Estudio de mineralizacin de mena de muestras de cabeza mediante mineraloga automatizada y tcnicas complementarias de AAS, DRX y
EPMA
Objetivo del estudio
Caracterizar mineralgicamente muestras de cabeza y ripio con mineralizacin oxidada de cobre que incluye principalmente fases de cobres negros y filosilicatos portadores de cobre, para conocer su respuesta a la lixiviacin frente a diferentes condiciones xido reductoras y de pH.

El estudio se desarrolla con la complementacin de tcnicas (Microscopa, AAS, DRX y EPMA y Qemscan)
Identificacin de probables fases de cobre negro mediante microscopa en luz reflejada
Estudio de la microqumica cuantitativa de las fases de cobre negro y filosilicatos con Cu mediante Microsonda Electrnica (EPMA).
Modificacin de la SIP y estudio de la mineraloga cuantitativa de mena y ganga va Qemscan
Estudio de mineralizacin arglica por Difraccin de Rayos X (DRX)
Estudio de la solubilidad mediante extraccin secuencial

Remplazo de clivajes por cobre negro
Izquierda; feldespatos y plagioclasas turbias por la alteracin arglica. Centro; clorita (color
verde) remplazando antiguos ferromagnesianos. Las zonas opacas (negro) corresponden
a minerales metlicos, en parte probablemente cobre negro. Derecha; biotita (color caf
claro) parcialmente remplazada a lo largo del clivaje por cobre negro. Microscopa ptica
luz transmitida, nicoles paralelos, (100-200 aumentos).

Los contenidos de sulfuros de cobre y de pirita se encuentran a nivel de
trazas o bien no existen en las muestras analizadas.
Algunas conclusiones del estudio mineralgico por Qemscan
Existen contenidos apreciables de filosilicatos portadores de cobre. El
recuento modal muestra que la mayora de las muestras presenta
contenidos apreciables de arcillas-Cu, biotitas-Cu y Clorita-Cu.

En las muestras con altos contenidos de biotitas-Cu y de clorita/clinicloro-
Cu, el cobre negro se presenta remplazando estos minerales a travs del
clivaje o a partir de fracturas que permitieron la circulacin de soluciones
con cobre. La afinidad qumica de los elementos constituyentes de estas
especies principalmente Fe ++ y Mg++, permitieron el remplazo de ellas
por fases de cobre negro.
En todos estos casos con ocurrencia de filosilicatos portadores de cobre,
se trata de un cobre que se presenta texturalmente ocluido y podra tener
mayor dificultad para ser lixiviado.
