DESIGN STATEMENT

How to activate it as the focal point?

Located at the center of : Shopping mall - Venue for public to relax, entertain, shopping. Apartment - Venue which is accommodated by residents. Commercial block – Venue which consists of staff and workers.

Proposed rooftop design:

Green design

• Using green space on roof top might aid visitors/ residents/ staff to get away from hustle and bustle city life.

• Enjoying greeneries and different views of the site which provides different yet subtle experience for public.

• Acts as the communal space for public to entertain and relax.• Fosters the relationship of the residents and community.

Site issues:

Densely populated by the residential housing units, lack of green space. (Except Daman 18 Golf Club ( high cost which only allows members to enter). - Proposed a communal green space which allows everybody to access and take full use of it.

• Repetition of modular residential housing units

• ZIG ZAG pattern• Linearity

Polygonal plan• Respond to site• Save cost

Small spaces in between retail shops.

Pocket gardens

• Make full use of small spaces.

• Creates ‘small room’ & environment orientated towards each of unique vistas.

Centralized communal area.

Multipurpose space

• Large open communal space which allows public to relax and entertain.

• Events such as residential communal events, commercial events, festivals can be held.

Open Design

Small neighborhood environment• Spatial arrangement of retail

units & application of double glazed low e glass on them emphasizes visual connectivity and creates sense of openness.

• No restriction, free activities. • Creates small neighborhood

environment which strengthen relationship of residents.
