EMMASA
Valoriza Agua
EMMASA supplies a population of nearly 222,000 inhabitants in Tenerife, where the average consumption of drinking water is around 55,000 m3/day Until the year 2000, the only source for water supply was groundwater coming from the north and south of the Island together with the Macizo de Anaga. Shortage experienced in recent years favored the construction and operation of the seawater Desalination Plant (SWRO) in Santa Cruz for an initial capacity of 21,500 m3/day (with a potential extension up to 40,000 m3/day). EMMASA owns 50 reservoirs with a total capacity over 200,000 m3 and also a sewage network of 540 km length.

EMMASA
Valoriza Agua
Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife works at
an average flow of 30,000 m3/day of municipal effluents and in addition
10,000 m3/day coming from La Laguna town, which means a total population
served around 300,000 inhabitants.

• More than 1,200 km of pipes. • 5 dams with a total capacity over
1,700,000 m3. • More than 60 reservoirs with a
capacity over 280,000 m3. • 3 DWTP (drinking water
treatment plants). • 5 main pumping stations for
water distribution. • Quality control laboratory.
