Victorian Workplaces
“On average, every year over 80 people die and 3000 suffer serious injuries in Victorian workplaces. Historically, across Australia more than 400 fatalities occur annually due to work-related incidents – that’s one death per day on average. The rate of serious injury is currently 15 per hour and nationally, each year, up to 650,000 workers suffer injuries and illnesses while at work. The total cost of work-related injury and illness has been estimated at more than $20 billion per year. The impact of a workplace death on our community cannot be measured. These deaths and serious injuries are preventable.”
