A.R.I.C.A.N.A.

ARICANA, the “Asociación Rosarina de Intercambio Cultural Argentino Norteamericano” was founded in February 1943 thanks to the spontaneous decision of a qualified group of Argentine citizens from Rosario. This group included artists, writers, journalists, university professors, industrialists, businessmen and professionals. Their objective was to foster a fluid exchange of ideas and information and to deepen the study of the Argentine and the American cultures. They were eager to know about the United States which is the product of the work done in universities, colleges, schools and museums.

As a result, a real bond of understandings and interests was formed that strengthened the friendship between the two countries.

ARICANA is managed by a Board of Directors whose President is in charge of establishing the policy and courses of action to follow in agreement with all its members.

ARICANA is a private, non-profit organization that maintains close and cordial contact with the United States Embassy in Buenos Aires from which it habitually receives generous and invaluable support.

As regards cultural affairs, ARICANA stands out in the community by sponsoring significant activities intended to encourage and spread all kinds of artistic expressions.

These objectives are fulfilled together with other cultural organizations of our city, such as the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts “Juan B. Castagnino”, “Mozarteum Rosario”, “Teatro El Círculo”, among others.

Throughout the year, a variety of artistic and cultural events are organized in the following areas: music, painting, literature and dance. Exhibitions of different artistic disciplines, seminars and lectures are also carriedout by re-known specialists and art critics. These activities take place in our ample auditorium that seats more than 200 people, which was decorated by a well-known local artist.

In order to overcome the language barriers, which hinders the exchange of knowledge and ideas, the founders of ARICANA created an Academic Department for the teaching of English as a foreign language. This department is constantly implementing the latest trends in language teaching. The teaching staff is formed by a number of qualified and experienced teachers.

Besides the Academic Department, ARICANA has the Administration Department, the Library, the EducationUSA Center and a Visa Department, in its downtown location.

Since 2007, ARICANA has its branch Bella Vista ARICANA that is located in the west side of the city.
