El “Rally de la Seda” 2016 dio inicio este el viernes 9 de julio en la Plaza Roja de Moscú con una gran ins-cripción de 130 automóvi-les y todoterrenos proce-dentes de 30 países, y los Cigarros Maya Selva están patrocinando un vehículo en este “Silk Way Rally” Moscú-Beijing; es el nú-mero 172, una camioneta Toyota color plata que cruzará las vastas estepas de Eurasia por primera vez en la historia de este rally, que se celebró por primera vez en el 2009.Este año, el rally de 15 etapas cubrirá 10,000 kilómetros a través de una vasta extensión de Rusia, Kazajstán y China, y se espera terminar en Beijing el 24 de julio, dando a los competidores una nue-va y aventurera vista del extraordinario paisaje y las culturas a lo largo de la antigua carretera de La Seda.

The 2016 Silk Way Rally started on Friday July 9 at Moscow’s Red Square with a huge entry of nearly 130 cars and trucks from 30 countries, and Maya Selva

Cigars is sponsoring a truck for the Moscow-to-Beijing “Silk Way Rally”; it’s the number 172, a To-yota silver truck that will cross the vast Eurasian steppes for the first

time in the history of this rally that was first held in 2009.This year’s 15-stage rally will co-ver 10,000 km across a vast tract of Russia, Kazakhstan and China,

and is expected to finish in Beijing on 24 July, giving the competitors a new, adventurous view of the extraordinary scenery and cultu-res along the ancient Silk Road.

La Asociación Internacional de Productores de Tabaco (ITGA), fundada en 1984 y basada en Portugal, celebró su Reunión de las Améri-cas 2016 en la ciudad de Santiago de los Caballeros, República Dominicana, con el auspicio del Instituto del Tabaco de la República Do-minicana, en la que destacó la importancia del sector tabacalero en América, don-de se concentra más de un tercio del tabaco producido en el mundo, fuera de China. En el evento se aborda-ron temas como la situa-ción actual del consumo mundial de productos de tabaco y sus principales tendencias, oportunidades y dificultades. Se discutió la situación actual del sector frente a nuevas medidas de empaquetado sugeri-das por la FDA (Agencia de Alimentos y Medicamentos de los Estados Unidos) y de empaquetado genérico pro-mocionadas por el CMCT, que podrían afectar fuer-temente las exportaciones dominicanas. Por su parte, el INTABACO, presentó un informe sobre la situación tabacalera en República Dominicana y cada país participante presentó su informe. Otro tema trabado fue un análisis sobre las trabas impuestas por los gobiernos en perjuicio del sector tabacalero, una mira-da al mercado internacional de cigarros y puros, y un re-cuento sobre las tendencias de consumo y producción global de los productos de tabacoLa Reunión de las Américas

2016 contó con la presencia de representantes de países productores de tabaco de Argentina, Brasil, Ecuador, Estados Unidos, Colombia, Nicaragua y República Do-minicana, como país anfi-trión. Así mismo, contó con la participación de Daniel Green, Vice-Presidente de ITGA y Antonio Abrunhosa, Jefe Ejecutivo. De Juan Francisco Caraballo, direc-tor ejecutivo del Instituto del Tabaco de la República Dominicana; Hendrik Kelner, Presidente de PROCIGAR; del ingeniero Andrés Gutié-rrez, Coordinador de las Re-giones Norte de Agricultura y de Leslie Marmolejos, del Departamento Legal para la Prevención y Solución de Controversias e Inversión, del Ministerio de Industria y Comercio de la República Dominicana; entre otras personalidades de los sec-tores tabacalero, agrícola y comercial.La importancia de este sec-tor tabacalero a nivel mun-dial, radica en que ocupa más de 4,291,012 hectáreas para el cultivo del producto agrícola, lo que supera la superficie de un país como Suiza. A nivel regional, en Latinoamérica, la industria genera alrededor de 650,000 empleos directos, respal-dando la economía de más de dos millones de perso-nas. Como producto de exportación, genera ingre-sos que casi completan los 4,000 millones de dólares al año, convirtiéndola en una de las producciones agríco-las más importantes para muchos países en el mundo

The International Association of tobacco Growers (ITGA), founded in 1984 and based in Portugal, held its Meeting of the Americas 2016 in Santiago de los Caballeros city, Dominican Republic, under the auspices of the Tobacco Institute of the Dominican Republic, in which it stressed the importance of the tobacco sector in America, whe-re is concentrated more than a third of tobacco produced in the world, outside China. In the event, were treated issues as the current situation of to-bacco world consumption and its main trends, opportunities and challenges addressed. The current situation of the sector, was discussed against new packaging measures sugges-ted by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration of the United States) and generic packaging promoted by the CMCT, which could strongly affect Dominican exports. Meanwhile, INTABACO presented a report on the tobac-co situation in the Dominican Republic and each participating country submitted its report. Another topic of discussion was an analysis of the constraints imposed by governments to the detriment of the tobacco industry, a look at international market for cigars and cigaret-tes, and a count on consumer trends and global production of tobacco products.The 2016 Meeting of the Ame-ricas was attended by repre-sentatives of tobacco produ-cing countries of Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, United States, Colombia, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, as host country. Regionally, in Latin America, the industry generates about 650,000 direct jobs, supporting the economy of more than two million people. As an export product, genera-ting income almost of 4,000 million dollars a year, making it one of the most important agri-cultural productions for many countries in the world.

amazing evening in D’ Luis Parrillada with live music, cigar sampling, sensational appetizers, spirits, chocolate treats, exciting raffles, and other surprises.

El Punta Cana Food & Wine Festival, deleitó a cientos de paladares des-de el principal destino turís-tico de la Re-pública Domi-nicana, Punta Cana y Bávaro; inaugurándose en el Barceló Bávaro Palace Deluxe por el chef domini-cano Leandro Díaz y los Bar-tenders de Ron Veleiro.
