APLICACIÓN: MEZCLAS DE POLVOS CON INCORPORACION DE LIQUIDOS

El Turbo Mezclador – Granulador MIC, es un sistema de mezcla de alta intensidad a velocidad de mezclado, donde se combina una tensión de corte muy elevada sobre el material a mezclar, con una acción de impacto y aceleración radial muy enérgica.

La sinergia de esta combinación, provoca una fácil reducción de aglomerados y rotura de terrones, permitiendo además una rápida incorporación de líquidos en el seno de la mezcla, dando lugar a una dispersión eficaz en un tiempo muy reducido, lo que redunda en una productividad muy alta de la operación de mezclado, entregando el producto con una calidad óptima.

Las Plantas Automáticas MIC, fueron diseñadas en forma modular, para controlar, registrar y ejecutar los siguientes procesos:

Los procesos son realizados en un sistema integral, compacto y hermético, evitando polución, perdida de producto, contaminación cruzada, etc.

Estas operaciones son comandadas desde un controlador central por un solo Operador, logrando procesos totalmente automáticos, supervisados y controlados por PLC y PC, obteniendo reportes, gráficos y listados de alarmas, con posibilidad de conexión remota para impresión y registro estadístico.

Las plantas permiten, no solo las mezclas de polvos con diversas granulometrías, sino también la incorporación de soluciones viscosas en polvos.

Son diseñadas en forma personalizada, construidas íntegramente en acero inoxidable, cumpliendo con las buenas prácticas de manufactura (GMP)

APpLICATION: POWDERS MIXINGWITH ADdITION OF LIQUIDS

The MIC Turbo-Mixer Granulator is a high-speed, intensive mixing system, which combines an extremely high shear force in the material to be mixed, with high impact and radial acceleration.

The synergy of this combination facilitates easy reduction of agglomerates and/or lumps, whilst allowing rapid addition of liquids to the mixture. This process therefore produces highly efficient dispersion in a very short period of time. As a result, an efficient and profitable mixing operation is achieved with optimal quality product delivery.

The MIC Automatic Plant features a modular design that allows the control, recording and performance of the following processes:

- Smart ID of raw materials (barcode reader) - Automatic pre-weighing of raw materials Macro (silos /big bag) - Weighing and loading stations - Weighing and transportation bins - Vacuum transportation systems - Blower transportation systems - Online raw materials gauge - Homogeneous Mixtures (1 ppm) in 3 minutes, with automatic addition of liquids, semisolids, etc. - Online screening of finished products - Online metals detection -Automatic feeding of packagers - Finished product in bags - Finished product in Big Bags - W.I.P. The processes are performed in a comprehensive, compact and enclosed system, avoiding pollution, loss of product and crossed contamination, among others.

A single operator handles these operations through a central controller, resulting in a fully automatic processes, surveyed end controlled by PLC and PC, producing reports, pictures and lists of alarms, and featuring the possibility of a remote connection for printing and statistical records.

The plants allow for the mixing of powders with different grading as well as the addition of viscose solutions to them.

Their customized design and full construction in stainless steel comply with the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

APLICACIÓN: aditivos alimenticiosFood additives are substances, or mixtures of substances, that directly or indirectly alter the physical, chemical or biological characteristics of a food. Both the additives and their use have to be safe. Their use must be justified through technological, sanitary, nutritional and pyschosensorial reasons and must comply with the requirements of the food code.

Their correct classification is established through considering the specific purpose of each additive:- Substances that prevent biological and chemical modification.(Antioxidants, synergistic antioxidants and preservatives)- Stabilisers of physical characteristics (emulsifiers, thickeners, also gelling, anti-foaming, anti-caking and anti-binding agents and finally humidifiers and pH regulators)- Corrective substances that improve/aid production (bread improver, wine-making correctors and maturation regulators)- Organoleptic modifiers (colour regulators, flavour enhancers, artificial sweeteners and aromatics)

Food additives have seven main functions:- Maintaining the consistency of a product.- Maintaining or improving its nutritional value.- Enhancing and enriching food.- Maintaining the stability and flavour of food.- Control of acidity and alkalinity.- Preserving/enhancing colour.- Preserving/enhancing flavour.

Therefore, food companies are increasingly marketing instant or ready-made food, presented in eye-catching packaging, which are available for consumption in minutes.These products require a high quality mixing process, in order to disperse small quantities of colourings, flavourings, pH regulators and turbidity agents.

The excellent quality of the mixing process provided by the MIC equipment is proven in the pharmaceutical sector also, where active ingredients require similar processes. Therefore the plant is the cornerstone of the incorporation of this technology into the instant food industry.

Enriching the food with vitamins is a new way of presenting powdered products, whereby manufacturers are adding nutrients to their traditional formulas.

Vitamins are heterogeneous compounds with no energy value. Since they cannot be synthesised by the body, they can only be incorporated through direct intake. These nutrients are essential for life, in the same way as proteins, carbohydrates and minerals. However, excessive intake can result in illness (hypervitaminosis) thus it is essential to ensure an "excellent dispersion" of these particles throughout the raw materials to be mixed. In this way, the consumer is guaranteed to receive the correct dose in each packaged product.

The most common flavours are:- Chicken and meat (Europe and America)- Lamb (Africa and Asian countries)- Fish (Asia)

The formulas of these products are governed by the laws of each country and may include natural extracts or not.The main characteristics that define the quality of the product are:- Stability of aroma and flavour during 15 minutes of cooking.- Flavour identification

- The exact flavour of the food (chicken, fish, etc.)- The seasoned flavour, usually adjusted according to the taste of each country and lifestyle.

Comprehensive MIC systems are used throughout the pharmaceutical industry. They ensure excellent homogeneity and dispersion of small percentages within large volumes and allow instant addition of solid fats and oils to the powder. Granulating is the process of turning small primary particles of raw material, or a heterogeneous mixture of fine powder into uniform granulate of a larger size and higher density, which possesses correct fluidity and compressibility. The size of the agglomerate normally ranges from 0.1 to 2 mm in size.

Powder granulation gives the raw materials and finished products the following advantages:- An increase in particle size.- Improved fluidity.- Improved solubility.- Prevention of dust volatility.- Improved appearance.- Prevention of raw material separation during handling, transportation etc.

The MIC machines are used by many industries to turn raw materials and/or finished products into granules.The excellent mixing process permits perfect homogeneity, meaning that each granule is an independent unit at the end of the granulation process.If humidification with large amounts of agglutinating solution is required, then a drying process must be added to the mixing and granulating process. The drying would then take place within a fluid bed dryer, such as the ESSICA model manufactured by COMASA.

A - Densification Curve: an Experimental Method

The powders are mixed with the impeller, in order to obtain a uniform mix. Then the speed is reduced and humidification occurs by means of spraying the agglutinate.Once this stage is finished, the speed is increased to speed up granulation.If excessive time is taken, over-agglutination and loss of torque occurs and therefore the quality of the granulate is compromised.

COMPRIMIDOSTABLETS APLICACIÓN: COMPRIMIDOS

Los productos comprimidos, están comenzando a tener auge dentro del área alimenticia, con el objetivo de introducir una nueva presentación, y así obtener ventajas respecto a la presentación en polvo.

Algunas ventajas son:- Facilidad en la ingesta- Simplicidad en la dosificación- Mayor aceptabilidad (marketing)- Acción prolongada o inmediata

El procedimiento consiste en obtener un comprimido a partir de una mezcla de polvos, la cual será ingresada a una comprimidora, dando como resultado una tableta.Pero lamentablemente no todas las formulaciones son compresibles en forma directa, con lo cual se deberá agregar un proceso previo a la compresión: la granulación de polvos (ver pagina 13) obteniendo de esta manera, granulados que si serán compresibles.

Los equipos MIC, efectúan este proceso en el área farmacéutica, debido a que el producto final mayoritariamente son comprimidos. These tablets are gaining popularity within the food industry, with the objective of presenting the advantages of powdered products.

Some of the advantages include:- Ease of consumption.- Simplicity of dosing.- Broader acceptance (through marketing)- Immediate and prolonged effects.

The tablet is obtained from a mixture of powders, which are compressed in a tablet press.Unfortunately, not all formulations are directly compressible, so an additional process is sometimes added before compression - powder granulation (see page 13) in order to obtain compressible granules.
