COMPARTIENDO

EL EVANGELIO

San Marcos 1,29-39

Queridos hermanos y hermanas, continuamos leyendo el evan-

gelio según San Marcos. En este domingo el evangelio nos

muestra a Jesús que tiene clara su misión: El ha venido a ins-

taurar el Reino de Dios predicando y con una serie de signos

que dejan estupefactos a sus seguidores: sana a enfermos y

expulsa a los demonios. Estos signos que hace Jesús o sea

los milagros, son preludio de algo que quiere darnos, mucho

mas grandioso que lo que vemos. La sanación corporal es

anuncio de la sanación que necesita el ser humano de la raíz

de todo mal, el pecado, porque este desencadena todo tipo de

enfermedad física, moral, espiritual, mental. !Ojo!, no caigamos

en pensar que todo lo malo que nos sucede es un castigo de

Dios por nuestro pecado, no, se trata de leer en las situaciones

que vive el mundo de hoy, las consecuencias del pecado per-

sonal y del pecado social.

Jesús ha venido para liberarnos de nuestras esclavitudes y

esto lo hará hasta dar la vida por nosotros, por ti, porque es

importante que te apropies esta salvación que El ha venido a

ofrecerte; Dios te ama inmensamente y viene a tu encuentro

porque desea que seas libre. A la suegra de Pedro le cura de

la fiebre y esta inmediatamente se pone en pie para servirle,

por que este gesto?, Porque cuando eres consciente de que

Dios te ha salvado, te ha sanado, te ha liberado, no haces otra

cosa que servirle con convicción, con gozo, con fidelidad en el

lugar donde te ha puesto, como padre o madre de familia, co-

mo vecino o como compañero de trabajo, contribuyendo a

construir la civilización del amor. Si te acercas al evangelio

conocerás la Palabra de Dios en Jesús y esta Palabra leída,

meditada, orada y vivida puede transformarte y de esta forma

tu mundo cambiara. Si cada cristiano católico se empeña en

este proceso de conversión realmente este Reino que Jesús

proclama y que ya esta entre nosotros se consolidara y vere-

mos que la fraternidad y la amistad social es posible.

Dios te bendiga, vuelve a leer el texto y deja que Dios hable a

tu corazón�

If I only knew then what I know now, how different life

would be. This sentiment, expressed in myriad ways, is

found on every human being’s lips at one point or anoth-

er. Life may have brought us to a vulnerable place

where we see some of the poor choices we made and the

effects they are having. Perhaps we fell into some de-

structive and dysfunctional relationships or behaviors

and are finding how they held us captive. Our zeal and

passion for life may have drifted away and we are wak-

ing up to the reasons apathy has taken hold. Life can be

hard. In fact, some would describe their lives as a drudg-

ery. They walk through each day with an anxious unset-

tledness, wondering when their restlessness will cease.

There is a temptation to believe that what I see is all I

will get. Mortality and hopelessness await the dawn. If I

could only have known what would come in the future, I

could have made better choices and avoided all of this

misery!�

�

Really? While we can certainly give into weakness, sin,

impulsiveness, and idiosyncrasies that cause us to stum-

ble over ourselves, life is really a journey. If we don’t

make the mistake of wallowing in the mire of self�pity

and realize the new life God is calling us to, then there

are thrills, adventures, surprises, and soul�searching

graces we can surely miss. We are not tethered to our

past nor are we bound to the ills life can bring upon us.

We are never hopeless or helpless. The problem is that

our myopic vision only allows us to see the misery and

misfortune that is before us, not the potential that can

come from choosing healthier and more life�giving op-

tions. Jesus came that we might have fullness of life. We

need to learn how to reach for Jesus’ hand and let him

help us to our feet.�

�

We need to allow God into our pain and heal our past.

We have to wrestle with our histories, agonize and

search and cry out for the Divine healing we need to re-

store our faith, hope, and love. Job could not see how his

story would end or trust the guidance of the God who

called him. We live in that same blindness and suffer

from the same lack of confidence. Once we allow our-

selves to be touched by God’s healing power, we begin

to see that all of the pieces of our lives are necessary

parts of a greater whole. Along the way of our lives,

God uses our omissions and failures to create new things

and possibilities. When doors close, others open and we

can be amazed by the joyful and unexpected surprises

we receive. Once we know the power of God’s creative,

healing, life�giving, forgiving, and dynamic presence, it

is no wonder we want to put ourselves at the service of

others and show them what life can be.�

For 48 years, Operation Rice

Bowl has helped to feed the

hungry poor. Through Operation Rice Bowl �� a pro-

gram of prayer, fasting, learning, and giving �� what

you give up for Lent can give hope to the poorest of

the poor. Make this Lenten season one of aware-

ness, compassion, and reflection. Operation Rice

Bowl is sponsored by Catholic Relief Services and

the Diocese of Norwich. Details of this program will

appear in next Sunday’s Bulletin.�

always use drivers! It is a matter of picking up food

LET'S TALK ABOUT LITURGICAL COLORS.

GREEN: Used in ordinary time. It expresses the

youth of the Church, the resurgence of a new life.

PINK: Emphasizes the joy of the Savior's closeness

on the Third Sunday of Advent, and indicates a pause

in penitential rigor on the Fourth Sunday of Lent. It is

a symbol of joy, but of ephemeral joy.

BLUE: Indicates the Marian festivities, on the

Immaculate Conception.

PURPLE: Indicates hope, the longing to find Jesus,

the spirit of penance; that is why it is used in advent,

lent and liturgy of the deceased. It's a sign of penance

and austerity.

SILVER OR GOLDEN: Underlines the im-

portance of big parties. In the most solemn days no-

bler ornaments may be used, even if they are not the

color of the day

BLACK: Expression of bereavement.
