Tragaluz editores is a small company of

publishing services and products, located in

Medellín, Colombia. Its books are committed to

good literature, design and graphic design.

Tragaluz stands out because of its excellent

illustrators and its high quality. These books

recover the idea of books as objects and as

treasures and they pretend to overcome

obscurity and to pass from one generation to

another.

Currently, Tragaluz has eight collections:

Poemas ilustrados (poetry), Solferino (children’s

literature), Pececito de plata (short story), Deus

ex machina (drama), Cuaderno de notas (art),

Cartero (epistolary), Cardumen (all genres) y

Lusitania (portuguese literature). Tragaluz was

founded in 2005 and it has a catalogue with

fifty titles and it won, consecutively (2007 y

2008) the national award Lápiz de acero in the

publishing cathegory. In 2009 it was awarded

by the Arcadia magazine as the publishing

house of the year, and in 2010 it was invited

by the Goethe Institute, to participate in the

Frankfurt International Book Fair.

Los Cruz, una familia de oculistas, buscó

por doscientos años la fórmula de los

lentes para verse en el espejo sin sentir

miedo. El autor hace uso de formas

poéticas clásicas –sonetos, romances,

haikús, coplas, etc.– para retratar cada

personaje, mientras hace un recorrido

lúcido y sutil por la historia reciente de

España y Colombia. Las ilustraciones

componen un álbum familiar de

fotografías, y acompañan al lector a

descubrir los rasgos íntimos de esta

familia.

The Cruz's, a family of oculists, searched for 200 years the way to build a pair of lenses to look at themselves in the mirror without fear. The author uses classical poetic forms –sonets, romances, haikus, coplas, etc.– to portray each character while he transits through the history of Spain and Colombia in a smart and subtle way. The illustrations compose a family photo album, and accompany the reader to discover the intimate traits of this family.
