 Military Experience

U.S. Air Force Reserve, 1980 to 2002. Served in public affairs and family

readiness offices. Went on a number of emergency operations to provide communications

support at Hurricanes Andrew in Florida and Hugo in Charleston, S.C.U.S. Army 1961-1964, U.S. Army Security Agency, including two years in

Frankfurt and Kassel, Germany.

Volunteer Experience in Haiti

--Worked a week at the Project Medishare tent hospital at Port Au Prince, Haiti.

Created four newsletters on activities and volunteers at the hospital. Provided assistanceto a reporter and a photographer with the Chicago Sun Times.

Got a large bulletin board placed in the common area shared by the volunteers to

improve communications. Performed a myriad of other duties including working the

“desk” at the “logistics” tent, seeing to the removal of bodies from the tent hospital to themorgue and helped anywhere else that I could be of service.

How I can help a state agency:

--Coordinate all communications between an agency and the agency’s

publics so that they all communications have the same purpose and deliver the same

purpose and deliver the same messages. I’m talking total program that works all the time.--Improve communications within a state agency so that all employees

know what is going on and know they are part of the same organization and understand

that they have an important mission to perform for the people of Ohio. Too often, by myexperience, this effort does not exist at all except in a slap-dash, uncoordinated way.
