I doesnt look like we have accomplished much this quarter, at least on the surface. At the end ofeach quarter when we start to compile information for this newsletter I am amazed at what the squadron has really accomplished. Captain Jondro not only does an exceptional job putting together thisnewsletter, he writes a permanent history of the squadron. Not only does this newsletter record thepresent membership, it categorizes the squadron accomplishments for future members to follow. Keethis in mind when the PAO asks for articles for the newsletter. He is not asking you to write aboutyourself, he is asking you to record the squadron history.
One of the accomplishments I had written off was the planning of the scenarios for the last missioTime was running short and we were not able to get the information we needed to write proper scenaios. I contacted the Wing Emergency Services Officer and told him we could not meet the deadline. the next mornings email I was informed that the scenarios were 90% completed and would be ready time for the mission.
Why do I tell you this? Because it shows the dedication everyone in the Squadron has for the CAprogram and the willingness to get the job done. Am I proud of this Squadron? You Betcha!!! TSeaBees motto is Can do! Our motto should be We Did.
As we start a new fiscal year I would like to thank everyone for their part in the scenario plannicommittee and for all the efforts you have put forth in everything we have done throughout the yea
And while we are thinking of the new year, there are a lot of changes coming. Most will be pertainito the commanders and the was we do business but some will effect you. More on these when thare implemented.

Monroe Squadron Assist in
Adopt a U.S. Soldier Program
The Monroe Squadron proudly displayed its Search & Rescue float again at the Monroe CountyFair Parade. The Monroe fair parade is with out a doubt the largest drawing card for the countiespopulation each and every year. The parade passes through the entire city from Jones Ave. to theWYMCA taking over three hours to pass in review. The parade is telecast live and then replayed on
the local cable network.
The float had a special significance to the squadron this year because all the four panels on thefloat were completed wrapping up a 2 year project. The squadron has received so much attentionfrom the float and we owe it all to the efforts and skills of Lt Doug Thoma. Lt Thoma hand paintedeach of the four panels that proudly portray CAP and our Emergency Missions for America.
The front panel makes all aware that CAP is the official auxiliary of the USAF by displaying ourlogo. The side panels show the path a distress call takes from initiation to CAP participation. The
recently completed rear panel pleads .Support CAP Get Lost. All that read it chuckle, but
with out realizing it learn about CAPs Missions for America
Thank You Lt Thoma for all the attention that you have raised for our squadron !

Monroe Squadron Returns to
the Monroe County Fair Parade
Last quarter our squadron was contacted by Mr. Wayne Blank of the AmericanLegion in Monroe. You might remember Mr. Blank was the driving force in the reali-zation of the Matt Urban Memorial at Monroes Veterans Park. He was searchingfor assistance from all military organizations during a Monroe Veterans Rally tobenefit the Adopt a US Soldier program. The event was hosted by the MonroeCounty Republican Party and was held at the Newport VFW on Dixie Hwy.
The Adopt a Soldier Program reaches out to the community seeking food, per-sonal care items, and individual relaxation donations for troops deployed overseas. The eventlasted an entire Saturday afternoon and included music, food, and area veteran speakers.
Our squadron duties included, traffic and parking control, and accepting drive by donations.Members were to be station by the busy Dixie Hwy entrances in BDU uniform to strategically draw
additional attention to the happening. Horns beeping and the thumbs up sign was repeatedly dis-played by cars passing by.
An unexpected perk came from working the event. Area vets that came to the event would con-tinually walk over to our senior members to inquire about CAP. Most of them had heard of Civil AirPatrol and have seen our squadrons articles in then local news paper but really didnt know whatwe did. Two of these veterans later attended a squadron meeting to meet members and gatherfurther details and recruitment pamphlets.
Uh-Rah to Senior Members Lt Col Woodruff, Capt Jondro, and Lts Thoma and Roberty and Ca-det Staff Sergeant Nicholson for representing our squadron at this significant fund raising rally.
After action reports from all groups working the rally were in agreement to run Adopt a Soldier
next season but, next year shoot for even bigger and better results.

Congratulations, to the Cadets of our Squadron that have earned the Colonel Mary Feik Achieve-ment Ribbon! To date 75% of the cadets in our squadron have earned this pres-tigious award!
To those in the squadron who do not know what the ribbon colors signify here goes,
The Border and Blue Band represents the colors of the United States Army AirCorps, where Col Feik pioneered aircraft mechanics, engineering, and flight training.
The centerRed Band recalls the epaulets worn by Civil Air Patrol, members duringWWII, and Mary Feiks lifelong volunteer service as a member. No colors intervenebetween the orange, blue, and red as aviation itself is unbounded.
As a personal touch Col Feik signs each and every award.

It was a pleasure to go to Alpena for this years encampment as a pilot to conduct O Flightsfor the cadets. I arrived on Sunday and started flying Cadets that same day. The pilots con-ducted Oflights from Sunday through Thursday.
The cadets that I flew had a great time in the air. The pilots where able to fly the cadets any-where as long as we stayed within 1.2 hours of flight time. I flew my cadets to two placesthroughout the week. We flew to either to the former Wirthsmith AFB, now a public airport, or tothe Mackinac Bridge. I was able to tell the cadets about Wirthsmith due to the fact that I pulledtemporary duty there when I was in the USAF. I asked them to imagine B-52 bombers on theramp or in the old alert area always ready to takeoff on short notice.
Once in the air, the cadets learned about the plane instruments and how each one is very im-portant in flight. Additionally, the cadets where able to fly the plane, some of the cadets flewreally well. Many cadets took cameras with them and they took some great photos while in theair.
It truly was a memorable experienced for me and the cadets.
A Report From MIWG Encampment
By Capt John Dauer
Monroe Squadron Serves as
Mission Exercise Planners at Iron Mountain
The Monroe Squadron was once again tasked to act as Exercise Planners at an Upper Penin-sula ES practice mission in Iron Mountain. This mission was designed to be a joint venture be-tween Michigan and Wisconsin Wings.
Captain Nathan Harmon and Lieutenant Greg Lane designed a mission plan as per the re-quest MIWG emergency officers, unfortunately there seemed to be some confusion betweenthose involved. The host squadron had a mission plan that they had designed. A compromiseplan was enacted and accomplished. During the winter months it is hoped that new guide lineswill be in place for future missions.
