Summary of where I am now

For the past six years I have primarily been working as an EnglishTeacher in Istanbul. During this time I have developed my expertise and havestarted to specialise my skills, particularly in the area of what is known asAccelerated Learning or Peak Learning or sometimes Suggestopedia.Whatever you want to call it, these new insights into teaching have given menew energy and vigor inside my field. I have taken a course in the subject (seebelow) and have read broadly on it.

I am also in the process of designing a course covering all levels thatfollows Accelerated Learning principles and have been applying these variousprinciples and various techniques to my classes.

Outside teaching I spend a lot of time on music and have an active bandhere. I have done some work in graphic design and multimedia, which is mysecond skill. This however, is dwarfed by my teaching abilities.

Having lived in Istanbul for almost 7 years, I feel that it's time to move on.For this reason, I am currently seeking work in another European country.

I also attended a one-week training workshop with Suggestopedia guru, Lonny Gold, in 2008. I foundthis highly practical and it opened my eyes up to further potential in the English Teaching Industry.

Hobbies and interests

I have always had a keen interest in music which I have been pursuing throughoutmy adult life, mostnotably with the experimental, sonic-art project Arkam Asylum which had two albums releasedinternationally through Wasp-Factory recordings. I am currently playing and performing in an ethnic,experimental jazz/rock group in Istanbul called Pis Yabanci and am constantly working on privatepieces. I find my connection with music has aided me a great deal with my teaching life, particularlywith respect to how certain music can induce certain reactions and states of reception in students.I have also maintained a strong relationship with computers and consider myselfhighly computercompetent.
