CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD (C.L.O.W.) An opportunity for children to hear the Gospel message at their own level.

All children from Kindergarten to Sixth grade are invited. C.L.O.W. leaders are needed.

If you are interested in this ministry simply accompany the children on Sunday at the 9:00 or 11:00 mass to see how easy it is to teach.

All that is needed is a love of children and the Gospel.

2017 Baptism Preparation Class Dates

Before a child can be baptized, parents and godparents MUST attend a baptism preparation class. To register for the next scheduled class, please come into the office and signed up. Fees for class material are $30 for both parents and $10 for each godparent. Class registration closes, one week prior to the class start date. The class completion certificate is good for 2 years.

English Classes: Saturday 2017: 4/1; 6/3; 8/5, 10/7. Classes are held in Room 16 (The old Church) and start at 8:45 a.m. In order to register your infant/child for baptism, an application package, available in the office or on line, has to be completed and the COMPLETE package, with all required documents, has to be returned to the office TWO (2) WEEKS prior to the Baptism. Incomplete packages will NOT be accepted.

BAPTISM DATES in 2017: 2/25; 4/29; 6/24; 8/26; 10/28.

Antes de que un niño puede ser bautizado, los padres y padrinos DEBEN asistir a una clase de preparación para el bautismo. Para inscribirse en la próxima clase programada , por favor venga a la oficina y se ha registrado. Las tarifas para la asistencia a clase es de $30 para ambos padres y $ 10 por cada padrino . El registro de la clase se cierra una semana antes de la fecha de inicio de la clase. El certificado de finalización de clases es bueno para 2 años.

Clases en español: Lunes 2017: 4/3 y 4/10; 6/5 y 6/12; 8/7 y 8/14; 10/2 y 10/9. Las clases se llevan a cabo en modular 9 y comienzan desde 6:15 de la noche. Con el fin de registrar su bebé/niño para el bautismo, un paquete de solicitud, disponible en la oficina o en línea , tiene que ser completado y el paquete COMPLETO, con todos los documentos requeridos, tiene que ser devuelto a la oficina DOS (2) SEMANAS antes del bautismo. NO se aceptarán paquetes incompletos.

We at St. Frances X. Cabrini would like to establish a welcome committee and ask for your input on how we can encourage a friendly environment of spirituality, hospitality and inclusion of new families into our great faith community. The committee is looking for individuals who are willing to brain storm ideas and then help with the establishment of a Welcome Ministry. If you have suggestions, and/or if you are interested in joining this planning committee, please contact Ursula at 909-797-2533.


We ministers and leaders of our Stephen Ministry here at St. Frances are very proud and happy to announce to our parish that 2 of our wonderful ministers have just completed their leadership training after a really intensive week of training in Anaheim. Many of you know Melanie Joyce and Ann Richmond, both of whom God has graciously endowed with the talents and other qualities needed as effective leaders, so we are assured that our loving, caring ministry will be in good hands, and will continue serving our brothers and sisters at St. Frances. You may know that as of July 7, 2016, we completed our 14th year of ministering here at St. Frances as one of many ministries, and will now, with God’s help, be equipped to continue serving our brothers and sisters for a prolonged period, maybe over many more years. In the not too distant future, our new leaders will be able to begin training yet another class of future Stephen Ministers. We who have completed the requirements, have been commissioned and served, or are currently serving. We are so happy that we as a ministry can continue serving God and you in that capacity. All of us who make up the Stephen Ministry here at St. Frances ask for your prayers for all our ministers and leaders and our wonderful care receivers, all we have assisted over a 14 year span.

DIVINE WISDOM

The Lord’s message, through Moses, was to “take no revenge and cherish no grudge . . . love your neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18). We might think, “Great in theory, but not always realistic!” Then Jesus in today’s Gospel goes even further. Take a slap in the face and then turn the other cheek? Treat enemies the same as friends? Again, we’re tempted to think that those are nice ideals, but not very practical in the “real world.” Paul echoes Jesus when he tells the Corinthians that what passes for human wisdom is absurdity to God. Divine wisdom casts sunshine on the good and the bad, showers rain on the honest and the dishonest—without distinction. We must examine our wisdom and common sense to see how they compare to the wisdom of God, and make adjustments accordingly.

SABIDURÍA DIVINA

El mensaje del Señor, por medio de Moisés, fue “no te vengarás ni guardaras rencor . . . , ama a tu prójimo como a ti mismo” (Levítico 19:18). Podríamos pensar, “Excelente enseñanza pero no es

muy realista”. Y en el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús se adelanta. ¿Si te golpean, pon la otra mejilla? ¿Tratar a los enemigos como si fueran amigos? Y así otra vez, estamos tentados a pensar que son bonitos ideales, perno no muy prácticos en el “mundo real”. Pablo hace eco a las palabras de Jesús cuando les dice a los corintios que lo que parece ser sabiduría de los hombres es absurdo para Dios. La sabiduría divina brilla sobre los buenos y los malos, llueve sobre los honestos y deshonestos, sin distinción. Debemos examinar nuestra sabiduría y sentido común para ver cómo estos se comparan con la sabiduría de Dios, y hacer los ajustes correspondientes.

"On seeing what had taken place, the centurion praised God

and said, 'Surely, this man was innocent.'" (Luke 23:47) Reflection: When Jesus died on the cross, the Centurion standing next to him repented of participating in his crucifixion. Many who used to perform abortions have now also repented, and they say, "Surely, these were innocent lives, and we are sorry." They have formed a group called the Society of Centurions. They seek God's healing and invite other abortionists to stop the killing. Prayer: Lord, I pray today for the Centurions. Now that they have stopped killing children, let them find your healing and peace. Amen.

Most Reverend Bishop Barnes will be visiting our parish on Saturday & Sunday, March 25-26, 2017. Bishop wishes to hear our voices. Sacristan Meeting

Attention all current and potential sacristans!

If you are a current sacristan or want to become one, please plan on attending a sacristan’s meeting on Thursday, March 2, 2017 in the Church at 7:00PM. The ministry of Sacristan is an important one in our parish. With all of the different liturgies put on by the parish, vicariate, and the diocese, the need for trained sacristans is very great. This meeting will go over the role of the sacristan, briefly learn about the theology and liturgical importance of the ministry, and how to properly prepare for various liturgical celebrations. ***For questions about this meeting, please contact
