Muy señor mío:

1 De conformidad con el programa de reuniones del Sector de Normalización de las Telecomunicaciones de la UIT para 1997 (véase la Circular TSB 2 del 1° de noviembre de 1996), me complace informarle de que la Comisión de Estudio 13 (Aspectos generales de la red) se reunirá en Seúl (República de Corea) del 17 al 28 de febrero de 1997 ambos inclusive.

La reunión comenzará a las 09.30 horas del primer día. La reunión se celebrará en el:

En la pizarra blanca, situada en la de entrada del Centro se dará información detallada sobre las salas de reunión.

2 Los debates tendrán lugar según las decisiones tomadas de conformidad con las disposiciones vigentes.

3 En el Anexo 1 adjunto figura el proyecto de orden del día preparado en acuerdo con el Presidente del aComisión de Estudio 13 del UIT-T (Sr. B.W. Moore, Lucent Technologies , Reino Unido).

4 El Anexo 2 contiene informaciones practicas sobre la reunión facilitadas por la organización anfitriona.

5 De conformidad con lo dispuesto en la Recomandación A.1 de la CMNT (Ginebra, 1996), las contribuciones a los trabajos de la Comisión de Estudio se transmitirán al Director de la Oficina de Normalización de las Telecomunicaciones (TSB).

a) Las contribuciones recibidas por lo menos dos meses antes de la reunión se publicarán y remitirán a las Administraciones de los Estados Miembros de la Unión y a los Miembros del Sector UIT-T inscritos en esta Comisión de Estudios.

b) Las contribuciones recibidas por el Director menos de dos meses, pero no menos de siete días hábiles antes de la fecha fijada para el comienzo de la reunión, se publicarán como "contribuciones tardías" y se distribuirán al comienzo de la reunión entre los participantes presentes únicamente. Por tanto estas contribuciones deberán obrar en poder de la TSB a más tardar el 5 de febrero de 1997.

Para resolver todas las eventuales cuestiones en relación con las contribuciones, se indicarán en éstas el apellido de la persona encargada, sus numéros de telefax y de teléfono, así como su dirección de correo electrónico (e-mail). Para ello, le ruego que facilite esta información en la portada de las contribuciones.

Se insta a presentar los documentos electrónicamente. Para las instrucciones detalladas, véase el Anexo 2 de la Circular 4 de la TSB.

6 Se adjunta a todos los efectos útiles como el Apéndice 1 al Anexo 2. un formulario de confirmación de reserva de hotel.

We reserved a block of rooms in recommended hotels with special rates for SG 13 participants. Recommended hotel reservation had better conform directly by hotel registration from in Attachment 1.Delegates are kindly requested to complete the form and send it to the Hotel by January 25, 1997. (Please refer to Attachment 1) Enclosed the alternative hotel directory for information. Please make your own arrangements. Reservation by Internet could be alternatively recommended.

4. Information of Seoul and Korea

The grandeur of the ancient walled city, embraced by the meandering Han River, can still be discerned in the thriving international cities of today. Seoul stands at the crossroads of glorious past and promising future. The capital of Korea, Seoul is located halfway down the Korean peninsula near the west coast, the site of ancient settlement. It is ideally located between mountains and along the Han River, so it is not hard to imagine why it was chosen as the nation's capital in 1394 at the beginning of Chosun Dynasty (1392-1910). Seoul has a population of 11 million. Numerous skyscrapers now tower above the graceful architecture of its ancient palaces. World Wide Web is available for information on Korea and its tour:

5. GII Workshop

Before the meeting, the invited workshop on the topics of Global Information Infrastructure (GII) will be arranged at 13 - 14 February. Refer to update version of http://sg13.etri.kr/ in Attachment 2) (Note: Speakers or topics may be slightly changed depending on the situations.)

6. Other Information6.1 Climate

In February, the climate in Seoul metropolitan area is generally cold and dry with occasional rain or snow. Average daytime temperature -0.3° Celsium.

6.2 Electricity

In Korea, two outlets for both 110 and 220 voltage are available. Be sure to check the power supply before using equipment.

6.3 Currency

The unit of Korean currency is the Korean Won (indicated as ). The exchange rate is subject to change with market fluctuations, and its approximate exchange rate is as follows (as of November 15th, 1996) :

6.5 Transportation

b) From other places in Seoul to the meeting places

- Subway: Take Line 2 (Green Line) to Kangbyun Station or Line 5 (Blue Line) to Kwangnaru Station. Free shuttle service is provided from the Kangbyon Station to the meeting place every 20 minutes. (approx. 10 minutes one way) Hotel - Subway Line 5 Kwangnaru Station 6:10 am - 11:30 pm (Every 20 minutes)

- Taxi: Information on approximate distance(km)/taxi fare(Normal) from alternative hotels to the meeting place is provided in the directory.

6.7 Technical Tour or Day Tour Program

One or two technical tours will be arranged for the weekend (currently, not fixed). Also, a day tour of Korean sightseeing will be provided on Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997.

6.8 Social Program

Welcome Reception (Feb. 17, 1997) and Farewell Dinner (Feb. 27, 1997) will be arranged.

6.9 Accompanying Person’s Program

Accompanying persons are welcome to participate in any and all of these special programs. The programs will be scheduled during working hours and be provided at the registration desk primarily for accompanying persons.

7. VISA

Those delegates interested in participating in the meeting should require as the need for a visa for entering Korea.
