Inciso I

Page 19: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

19

Page 20: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

20

Page 21: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

21

E. ¿Quiénes No Deben Ser Restaurados?

I Timoteo4:1

b) Cumplimiento y sujeción a ladisciplina – La comisión aplicará lasdisciplinas o restricciones necesariaspara ayudar a la persona a sanar y serrestaurada.

Page 26: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

26

I Corintios 5:9-12

I Tesalonicenses 3:14,15

“Brethren, if any of you do err from thetruth, and one convert him; Let him know,that he which converteth the sinner fromthe error of his way shall save a soul fromdeath, and shall hide a multitude of sins”James 5: 19 - 20

INTRODUCTION:James is a rather brief letter – just over ahundred verses in length. It is addressed toJews scattered abroad (1:1). It is believedthat these were Jews who had beenconverted during the early days of thechurch and had been dispersed because ofthe persecution, perhaps after Stephen’sdeath. They had been cast out of thecomfort of their homes and neededencouragement. In addition, James wrote tothem because he was concerned about theirwalk with God. Their behavior did notmatch their belief.

In summary, James emphasizes a faith thatis productive in the midst of trials, in otherwords, “a faith that behaves.”

EXEGESIS:Vs. 19; “if one of you do err:” planethe; towander or lead astray; deceive (plane, awandering; cp. Eng. planet)

This word is within the context of 2 Peter2:14 -15: “Having eyes full of adultery, andthat cannot cease from sin; beguilingunstable souls: an heart they have exercisedwith covetous practices; cursed children:Which have forsaken the right way, and aregone astray, following the way of Balaamthe son of Bosor, who loved the wages ofunrighteousness.”

“from the truth, and one convert:” –epistrepho; turn about, turn towards (epi,

towards and strepho to turn, beconverted.

Page 33: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

33

Vs. 20; “multitude:” – plethos; a fulness,plenitude, i.e. a large number.

“sins:” – hamartion; sinful deeds or actsof sin.

This is within the context of 1 Peter 4:8:“And above all things have fervent charityamong yourselves: for charity shall coverthe multitude of sins.”

SUMMARY:James makes provision for those that shouldstray away from the Gospel of Christ. It isdone with the hope that the transgressorwould be recovered as stated in versefifteen. These people found in offense areto be considered as possible candidates forrepentance and restoration. Jamesencourages the one recovering thetransgressor by making a statement of fact;“…he which converteth the sinner from theerror of his way…” In other words,recovering a sinner should be considered avery strong possibility. The one recoveringthe transgressor should further consider thebenefits of also saving him from spiritual orliteral death. This would also include the“hiding” of many sins. These sinscommitted during his backslid state mustnot be hidden but forgiven through properconfession (vs. 16). Therefore, it must firstbe understood that the phrase “shall hide amultitude of sins” is not referring tokeeping in secrecy a man’s sins, but thatthere is atonement of sins by the blood ofJesus in the present and in the future sense.In this case the future sense can be that theconversion of a backslider would preventhim from a multitude of personal sins.

Those whom he influences would also bekept from sinning because of hisconversion.

JUDE 22-23

“And of some have compassion, making adifference: And others save with fear,pulling them out of the fire; hating eventhe garment spotted by the flesh” Jude vs.22-23

INTRODUCTION:

This short book gives a vigorous defense ofthe gospel and at the same time severelyadmonishes those that had left the faith andwere teaching false doctrine. Jude’s desirehad been to write about salvation but theSpirit of God had shown him that he neededto exhort the church to “earnestly contendfor the faith which was once delivered untothe saints” (v. 3).

The primary reason was because some menhad infiltrated the church and were teachingthat their liberty in Christ could be used forimmorality. This letter is a passionate pleato defend the truth at all costs. Similar to adoctor or surgeon, Jude gives a diagnosis ofa sickness that can contaminate the churchand at the same time gives the remedy tobring about healing.

EXEGESIS:

Vs. 22; “have compassion:” – eleheho; tohave pity on, to show mercy.

Vs. 22; “making a difference:” – diakrino;to separate throughout, to make adistinction.

Vs. 23; “save:” – sosete; deliver or protect(lit.); make whole; liberate, mercy,preserve, save, heal and whole.

We need to do everything possible to rescueothers from the fire so they can be restored.This needs to be done with compassionaccording to Galatians 6:1,2. We also needtoconsider their actions to see if they arerepeated and if there is genuine repentancefor their sins (Gal. 5:21).

Page 35: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

35

SUMMARY:The general idea in this exhortation is thatwe are not to deal with every case in thesame way. In the case of Jude 22 and 23,seduction by false teachers would lure weakand unwise believers. On the other hand,the false teachers were filled with pride andarrogance. Unwilling to submit to spiritualauthority they separated themselves. Theirseparation declared their enmity to theChurch and God.

Jude points out that there would be somecases that would be objects of compassion.There are those who are already embracedby Hell’s fire and would have to be savedby snatching them out. Jude adds to his listthe contentious at heart, to whom convictingwas necessary from the Lord and Churchleadership. The treatment of their soul wasto be done with care. Nonetheless, theirsinful acts should be hated.

1 CORINTHIANS 5

“It is reported commonly that there isfornication among you, and suchfornication as is not so much as namedamong the Gentiles, that one should havehis father’s wife. And ye are puffed up,and have not rather mourned, that he thathath done this deed might be taken awayfrom among you. For I verily, as absent inbody, but present in spirit, have judgedalready, as though I were present,concerning him that hath so done thisdeed, In the name of our Lord JesusChrist, when ye are gathered together, andmy spirit, with the power of our Lord JesusChrist, To deliver such an one unto Satanfor the destruction of the flesh, that thespirit may be saved in the day of the LordJesus. Your glorying is not good. Know yenot that a little leaven leaveneth the wholelump? Purge out therefore the old leaven,that ye may be a new lump, as ye areunleavened. For even Christ our passoveris sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keepthe feast, not with old leaven, neither withthe leaven of malice and wickedness; butwith the unleavened bread of sincerity andtruth. I wrote unto you in an epistle not to

company with fornicators: Yet notaltogether with the fornicators of thisworld, or with the covetous, or extortioners,or with idolaters; for then must ye needs goout of the world. But now I have writtenunto you not to keep company, if any manthat is called a brother be a fornicator, orcovetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or adrunkard, or an extortioner; with such anone no not to eat. For what have I to do tojudge them also that are without? do notye judge them that are within? But themthat are without God judgeth. Thereforeput away from among yourselves thatwicked person.” (KJV)

INTRODUCTION:Paul’s initial motivation for writing thisletter to the Corinthians came from a reportreceived by a member of the household ofChloe concerning the bad conduct of somein the church (1 Corinthians 1:11). Somehad recently been

Page 37: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

37

converted from paganism and were havingdifficulty breaking habits of their formerlifestyle. Such practices were “fornication,”“adultery,” “idolatry,” “abusers ofthemselves with mankind,” “stealing and“coveting” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). Added tothis treacherous list of sins was a reprimandfor the gross immorality found in chapter 5of a man “taking” his father’s wife.

EXEGESIS:Vs. 1; “is fornication among you”- porneia;adultery, incest.

Fornication equals incest because of 1b,“That one should have his father’s wife.”

Vs. 2; “and have not rather mourned” -pentheo; to grieve.“might be taken away from among you” -mesos; middle, midst.

They should have been so desirous of thiserror being removed that it should haveresulted in grief and not in pride (puffedup). This person should have been putaway so that his association with the saintswould not touch the midst or heart of theirfellowship. By implication, he should beleft in the outskirts. Already, Paul has inmind the purpose for his decision (ref. vs.5).

Vs. 3; “have judged already.” - krino; todistinguish, i.e. decide; by implication, totry, punish, condemn.

Spiritual authority is given to decide suchcases among the saints. Even in absence,judgment must be made and held to by thesaints. Paul moves with authority todistinguish the man’s error in light ofchurch discilpine. (ref. I Corinthians 7:25)

Vs. 4; “and my spirit, with” - sun; denotingunion.“the power of our Lord Jesus Christ.” -dunamis; force, miraculous power.

Page 38: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

38

This case was being determined by Paul’sunion between his spirit and the force ofGod’s miraculous power.

Vs. 5; “To deliver such a one unto Satan” -Satanas; accuser“for the destruction” - olethros; ruin, i.e.death, punishment.“of the flesh” - sarx; flesh (as stripped ofthe skin)“may (asbp) be saved” - sozo; to deliver.“may” is in the aorist subjunctive passive,aorist, in that it does not signify the time ofaction.Subjunctive, in that it asserts some doubt,uncertainty, or indefiniteness. Closelyrelated to the future tense, which helps

understand the uncertainty becausethe action has not yet occurred.

Although the body had been delivered untoSatan, Paul’s bonded spirit to the force ofGod’s Spirit still commanded authority overhis soul and spirit. Satan only haddelegated authority to carry out what hadbeen already determined by Paul underGod; that the sinner’s spirit in days to come,be delivered.

Vs. 6-7; Alludes to the Jewish custom.Cast out all leaven from their homes beforethe passover.

Vs. 8; Historically, it is possible that theFeast of the Passover was near and Paultook the opportunity to describe the formsof leaven:

“leaven of malice” - kakia; badness, i.e.depravity.“and wickedness” - poneria ; depravity,iniquity.

Vs. 9-10; “not to company with fornicators”- pornos; male prostitute, whoremonger.

Vs. 11; “is called a brother be a fornicator”- adelphos; figuratively, a brother.

- p o r n o s ; ma l e prostitute,whoremonger.

Page 39: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

39

Paul qualifies his statement from verse nineby adding to fornicator; covetous,extortioners and idolaters. His statement isnot l imi ted t o prostitution orwhoremongering. It is necessary to separatefrom those called “brothers” that arepracticing such things.Vs. 12-13; The saints have the obligation tojudge those within (ref. chapter 6).Christians should be knowledgeable thatGod is judge over those “without” eventhough Christians will judge with Christ theworld and its inhabitants (ref. ch. 6:2-3).

For now, put away the “wicked person”from among ourselves - poneros; hurtful ineffect or influence.

SUMMARY:Every church should be desirous of havingsin removed from their midst. Paul’szealous ambition was that the Corinthianchurch expels any form of sin from withinit. In this case, an attitude of pride coupledwith incest could only be dealt with byremoving that individual from among them.Consistent with God’s nature ofreconciliation, Paul aims at having thisperson go through a strict and severeprocess of discipline so that his conductwould be corrected and never repeated byhim nor anyone else.

Drawing authority from the presence ofGod in his own spirit, Paul not onlycommits this individual to this strenuousprocess but also constrains the affliction thatSatan could possibly exert upon that person.The individual is then protected at the sametime that he is being corrected.

In a general sense, every believer is alsocommitted to a form of continual disciplinethrough self-denial. A believer must submitto separating himself from those that callthemselves brothers and practice such thingsa s p r o s t i t u t i o n , whoremongering,fornication, lasciviousness, extortion andidolatry. This is necessary in order that thechurch environment does not invite sin. Sinwas present without being asked to enterinto the Corinthian church. The attitude ofthe believers in Corinth toward sin waslackadaisical and was corrected sternly byPaul.

Page 40: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

40

It is then Paul’s command that the churchtake up the obligation to judge its internalconflicts. A person that has fallen into sinneeds to be removed from any influencethat he/she may have on the body of

believers. We have already understood fromthe passage described that the optimum goalin Paul’s mind is that such a one would becorrected, the church protected, and finally,the individual restored.

2 CORINTHIANS 2:5–9, 11

“But if any have caused grief, he hath notgrieved me, but in part: that I may notovercharge you all. Sufficient to such aman is this punishment, which wasinflicted of many. So that contrariwise yeought rather to forgive him, and comforthim, lest perhaps such a one should beswallowed up with overmuch sorrow.Wherefore I beseech you that ye wouldconfirm your love toward him For to thisend also did I write, that I might know theproof of you, whether ye be obedient in allthings. To whom ye forgive any thing, Iforgive also: for if I forgave any thing, towhom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave Iit in the person of Christ; Lest Satanshould get an advantage of us: for we arenot ignorant of his devices” 2 Cor. 2:5-9,11

INTRODUCTION:After writing 1 Corinthians, Paul was facedwith the need to deal once again with theissues related to the church of Corinth (2Cor. 2:1; 12:14; 13:1-2). He encounteredTitus in Macedonia, who undoubtedly gavehim a complete report about the situation inCorinth.

The letter has three principal objectives: [1]to express joy at the favorable response ofthe church to Paul’s ministry. Many hadshown forth fruit worthy of repentance andhad improved their conduct (chapters 1 –7), [2] to remind the believers of theircommitment to collect an offering for theJudean Christians (chapters 8 – 9); and [3]to defend Paul’s apostolic authority(chapters 10 – 13). Some of the “Judaizers”in Corinth were questioning Paul’s status asan apostle and his ministry. In addition,they were questioning his teaching on the

42

Law. The purpose of the apostle in tovindicate his apostleship and his lifestyle.

In this epistle, we find the same ferventaffection towards the Corinthian disciples ashe used in the former epistle, the same zealfor the honor and dignity of the gospel andthe same boldness in admonishing thebelievers.

EXEGESIS:Vs. 5; “if any have caused grief” - lupeo; todistress, make sad.

The point of this statement is that someonein particular had caused a problem that should not be charged unto the rest.

Vs. 6; “Sufficient to such a man,” - hikanos;to arrive, competent, i.e. ample.The obvious measure was the grief withwhich this individual mourned having beendisowned by the church. Paul then pleadsfor him.

Vs. 7; “contrariwise ye ought rather toforgive him,” - charizomai, to grant as afavor, i.e. kindly, in pardon or rescue.

“and comfort him,” - parakaleo; to callnear, invite.

“swallowed up with overmuch sorrow,” -perissoteros; more superabundant (in degreeof character)

Further steps are necessary in order tocomplete the restoration for one that was atthe brink of being swallowed by sorrow.Forgiveness in kindness with intimate,inviting fellowship would be the tools forthe spiritual reconstruction of thisindividual.

Vs. 8; “I beseech you” - parakaleo; to callnear, invite.

Page 43: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

43

“confirm your love” - agape; affection ofbenevolence.

Paul models for the church how they oughtto “call near” the one that was put away.Paul calls them to assure “the one” inaffectionate love and charity.

Vs. 9; “ye be obedient in all things,” -h u p e k o o s ; attentively listening, i.e.submissive. Desirous to give closure to the matter Paul

sets out the litmus test through his letter.Should they now complete his joy byreconciling the offender as per hisinstructions, then all will have been gainedand nothing lost. Paul brings it home in vs.1 by establishing their communion withhim. Having obeyed him initially, couldonly lead to the complete correction ofremaining concerns Paul still had to address.

Vs. 11; “for we are not ignorant of hisdevices,” - noema; perception, i.e. purpose.

Reconciliation must be complete, for weknow that Satan purposes to kill, steal, anddestroy. He takes advantage of any givencircumstance even when it is meant forgood and he must not be ignored.

2 CORINTHIANS 7:9 -12

“Now I rejoice, not that ye were madesorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance:for ye were made sorry after a godlymanner, that ye might receive damage byus in nothing. For godly sorrow workethrepentance to salvation not to be repentedof: but the sorrow of the world workethdeath. For behold this selfsame thing, thatye sorrowed after a godly sort, whatcarefulness it wrought in you, yea, whatclearing of yourselves, yea, whatindignation, yea, what fear, yea, whatvehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, whatrevenge! In all things ye have approvedyourselves to be clear in this matter.Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I didit not for his cause that had done thewrong, nor for his cause that sufferedwrong, but that our care for you in thesight of God might appear unto you” 2 Cor7: 9-12

EXEGESIS:Vs. 9; “that ye sorrowed,” - lupeo ; todistress, be sad.“to repentance,” - metanoia; reformation,reversal. “after a godly manner,” - theos;exceeding god ward.

The evidence of true repentance was foundby Paul as causing sadness, resulting in

Page 45: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

45

reformation. All of which were in pursuit ofgodliness.

Vs. 10; “repentance to salvation, ” -metanoia; reformation, reversal. -soteria;rescue, safety.

“sorrow of the world,” - kosmos ; earth,inhabitants.

“after a godly manner,” theos; exceedinggodward or according to God.

The bearing of godly sorrow, though it maybring distress, will be eventually convertedinto health and providentially beingremoved from any potential destruction.Any other kind of distress, provoked bythings other than God, will eventually leadto death.

Vs. 11; “what carefulness it wrought inyou,” - katergazomai; to work fully, i.e.accomplish.

“what revenge,” - ekdikesis; vindication

“in all things ye have approved yourselves,”- sunistao; to set together.

The work was complete in the whole bodyof believers. As a church that sorrowedGod ward, so was the work of vindication,vehement desire, zeal, and carefulnessbrought about not only in the offender butin those that surrounded him with brotherlylove.

Vs. 12; “I did it not for his cause that haddone the wrong,” - adikeo; to be unjust, i.e.do wrong (morally, socially, physically).

“in the sight of God might appear untoyou,” - phaneroo; to render apparent.

The motives behind correction must gobeyond the person in question. It is

Page 46: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

46

apparent that the rest of the congregationwould benefit from such an act in that itwould witness firsthand the caring authorityand force with which they were beingsupervised.

SUMMARY:Through this extraordinary work ofrestoration, accomplished by Paul and therepented Corinthian Church, was ushered ina transparent expression of fatherlyemotions. Paul establishes his actions takenagainst the transgressor, as rebuke out ofconcern for the entire church being affected.

The transgressor’s response to rebuke wasexemplary of how the entire church wouldfollow suit. The church took to theirdeepest bowels of respect for Paul’sapostolic authority and carried out hischarge to completion. Paul’s genuineconcern

for the transgressor’s restoration, called forthe church to prove their loveaffectionately. The church was to inviteback into the heart of each believer; the oneit had initially disowned.

Distress and sadness had been part of theingredients which lead to reformation. In apowerful demonstration of God’s superiorways, the transgressor was to be rescuedfrom perishing by initially being treated as acastaway. Repentance brings with it an illfeeling of loss but with the gain of returningto God wholly. In contrast, the sadness ofthis world that comes from the loss of a life,possessions, family, etc. can only lead togreater sadness and an insatiable desire tofeeling whole once again.

Such practices were“fornication,” “adultery,” “idolatry,”“abusers of themselves with mankind,”“stealing and “coveting” (1 Cor 6:9-11).Added to this treacherous list of sins was areprimand for the gross immorality found inchapter 5 of a man “taking” his father’swife.

EXEGESIS:Vs. 1; “go to law” - Krino; to distinguish,i.e. decide; by implication, to try, punish,condemn.Paul defends the fact that these were mattersthat could be “decided” by someone amongthe saints (vs. 5 “...is it so that there is nota wise man among you?”) (ref. ch. 5:3)

Vs. 2; “shall judge the world” - Krino(future tense) the kosmos: try the world andits inhabitants, “judge the smallest matters”- kriterion; tribunal the smallest matters.

Paul is qualifying the saints to handletoday's matters, for tomorrow they will tryall matters pertaining to the world and itsinhabitants. The argument is centered

around “things that pertain to this life” (vs.3) and not legal ones. Paul, as an educatedman in Jewish Law, separates for the saintsjudicial matters and legal matters, thusenabling them to take jurisdiction overchurch business and not allow the “unjust”to try their affairs.

Vs. 5; “there is not a wise man” - sophos;clear; by implication, cautious character.The search is for a man of character and notnecessarily an attorney, who would“diakrino” between his brethren (vs. 5b)which is to discern.

Vs. 7-8; The intended goal of the believersin the courtroom was to avoid doing wrongand defrauding, nonetheless; in vs. 8 Paulaccuses them of accomplishing the exactopposite. Taking matters that should havebeen decided through a wise and discerningspirit instead of an “unjust” (vs. 1)“unbelieving”

(vs. 6) spirited person resulted as such.

Vs. 9-10; Paul mentions general offensesfrom where the Corinthian saints could havebeen suffering wrong and fraud. Sinsagainst the first and second commandment,as “idolaters”; against the seventh, asadulterers, fornicators,

effeminate, and sodomites; against theninth, as revilers; and against the tenth, ascovetous and drunkards. Paul asserts that such are unfit for heavenand therefore, God as the determiningjudge of His law, and ruler of heaven,would ultimately have the last word.

Vs. 11; “but ye are washed (aom)” - aom-aorist middle, aorist referring to past time.Middle referring to the subject “ye”. Gkdef..- apalouo; to wash fully, i.e. haveremitted.

Page 50: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

Reading: “but you were washed fully.”; “aresanctified” - hagiazo; made holy, i.e. purityor consecrate.; “are justified” - dikaioo; torender innocent.

Paul renders an explanation of the processwhich the saints of Corinth were ignoring.First, the external washing through waterreflects the internal washing of the HolySpirit, sanctifying the soul and spirit fromsin. The result is justification and thusrendering that soul innocent by the grace ofGod.

This verse stands out because of itstransitional nature. It explains where abeliever once stood, how he stands today,and how he will stand from today onward.

SECTION II1 CORINTHIANS 6:12-20

“All things are lawful unto me, but allthings are not expedient: all things arelawful for me, but I will not be broughtunder the power of any. Meats for thebelly, and the belly for meats: but Godshall destroy both it and them. Now thebody is not for fornication, but for theLord; and the Lord for the body. And God

Page 51: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

hath both raised up the Lord, and will alsoraise up us by his own power. Know ye notthat your bodies are the members ofChrist? shall I then take the members ofChrist, and make them the members of anharlot? God forbid. What? know ye notthat he which is joined to an harlot is onebody? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.But he that is joined unto the Lord is onespirit.Flee fornication. Every sin that a mandoeth is without the body; but he thatcommitteth fornication sinneth against hisown body. What? know ye not that yourbody is the temple of the Holy Ghost whichis in you, which ye have of God, and ye arenot your own? For ye are bought with aprice: therefore glorify God in your body,and in your spirit, which are God’s” 1 Cor.6:11-20

EXEGESIS:Vs. 12; “all things are not expedient” -sumphero; to bear together, be profitable.

Paul defends that he can do things that areacceptable to him, however; it is notprofitable that he join himself to all ofthem.

Vs. 13; “the body is not for fornication” -soma; the body (as a sound whole)

- p o r n e i a ; harlotry, adultery, incest,figurative; idolatry, fornication.

The specific use for the body is the Lord’s.The appetite is for the belly and thus, whatyou eat with the belly cannot be connectedwith what you do with the body.

Vs. 14; “God hath both raised up” - egeiro;to rouse from sleep.

Page 52: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

52

“will also raise up us” - exegeiro; to rousefully.

This was one thing that would be acceptableand profitable for a man to do: join hisbody to the rousing power of the Spirit.

Vs. 15; “take the members of Christ andmake them the members of a harlot?”

Meat and the belly can be joined together.That is what they were made for. Not sobetween the body and fornication. A bodyand a harlot were not joined together by theword of God to be “one flesh” (Genesis2:24).

Vs. 16, 17; “joined to the harlot is onebody” “joined to the Lord is one spirit”

The body must be indwelled by the spirit ofthe Lord and never joined to another bodyin harlotry.

Vs. 18; “Every sin” - hamartema, a sin.

“committeth fornication, sinneth against hisown body” - hamartano, to sin- for yourfaults, miss the mark.

II.The solution to fornication, in this case, isnot resistance but flight. We sin without thebody, but in our lust, we sin with our bodiesthrough fornication. This violation isdescribed further in vs. 19 and 20. We canallow the fault of lust to overtake the bodyinstead of it being filled and surrendered tothe Holy Spirit. The body is given thespirit as a spiritual organ whereby God andman would have spiritual intimacy.

It is necessary that both the body and spiritbe kept intact and be for the sole use andpurpose of glorifying God.

Paul initiates this chapter by dealing withthe increasing practice among the believersof taking each other to court. Paul viewedthis as unwise and degrading to the church,because of the irrelevancy between churchand legal matters. Situations not involvinglegal documentation did not requiremediation by a court. Paul assured thechurch of having wise men to undertake theresponsibility of trying its own matters.Paul was concerned that the conflicts of thechurch would be examined by inferiorscruples. This inferiority would handicapthe church from viewing itself as capable ofone day judging the inhabitants of theworld. The church must acknowledge itssuperiority in handling its own matters.Godly justice must be executed in thechurch, reflecting divine wisdom upon aworld that is void of any said attribute.

Paul’s second focal point in this chapterrefutes the belief that man cannot be heldaccountable to any moral law. Man can doas he pleases, because he has believed inChrist and now the Grace rendered to him iswithout any conditions whatsoever. InPaul’s contrast of the body and the “meatfor the belly”, he established that what isdone to the body has moral significancewith eternal implications, while the latterwould simply have a temporal use. Meatoffered unto idols, taken for humanconsumption, is to be understood as nothaving any moral significance, for “Meatsfor the belly, and the belly for meats…”However, the body and fornication are notto be taken as such. Anyone fornicating,sins against the one for whom the body wasmade. “The body is for the Lord and theLord for the body”; God holds manaccountable to this law and forbids himfrom bringing an assault on His Lordship.

The fate of our bodies must be securedalongside with our soul and spirit.Continually offering our bodies as adwelling place will result in our resurrectionunto eternal life through

REVELATION 2:20-24

“Notwithstanding I have a few thingsagainst thee, because thou sufferest thatwoman Jezebel, which calleth herself aprophetess, to teach and to seduce myservants to commit fornication, and to eatthings sacrificed unto idols. And I gave herspace to repent of her fornication; and sherepented not. Behold, I will cast her into abed, and them that commit adultery withher into great tribulation, except theyrepent of their deeds. And I will kill herchildren with death; and all the churchesshall know that I am he which searcheththe reins and hearts: and I will give untoevery one of you according to your works.But unto you I say, and unto the rest inThyatira, as many as have not thisdoctrine, and which have not known thedepths of Satan, as they speak; I will putupon you none other burden” Revelation 2:20-24

INTRODUCTION:The book of Revelation is “the revelation ofJesus Christ” (1:1). It paints an unparalleledpicture of Jesus Christ as the conqueringRuler who wins the ultimate victory overevil and reigns triumphantly over all. Thepurpose of Revelation is to assure its readersthat God is in complete control of all futureevents.

The book of Revelation unveils the majorevents of the future. We may notcompletely understand all that is going tohappen but we can be assured that God hasthe future firmly in His hand.

The threefold division of verse 19 ofchapter 1 provides a clue to the structure of

the book of Revelation. “Write the thingswhich thou hast seen (past), and the thingswhich are (present), and the things whichshall be hereafter (future).”

EXEGESIS:Vs. 20; “Which calleth herself aprophetess,” - prophetess; a femaleforeteller or an inspired woman.

Page 56: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

56

“to teach,” - didasko; to teach.

“seduce my servants,” - doulos; a slave.

By what is read in vs. 24, the call was torepent from her, “inspired teachings” or“doctrine,” what is also called, “the depthsof Satan.” It is very possible that this“Jezebel” and her followers were callingtheir teachings, “The depths of God,” andfor that reason God declares it to be all theopposite.

Vs. 21; “gave her space,” - chronos; a spaceof time, derived from- aion; denotes aparticular period.

“to repent,” - m e t a n o e o ; to thinkdifferently, I feel compunction.

Although an exact time is not given, thepoint still stands that there was given anopportunity to reconsider and change hermind by way of a spiritual pricking.

Vs. 22; “with her into great tribulation” -thlipsis, pressure, afflicted.“they repent of their deeds,” repent is in theaorist tense which in this case, refers only tothe reality of the action taken and notnecessarily to a “space of time to...” as inverse 21. -ergon; to work.

The outcome from a lack of response torepent would lead to horrific consequences.The only escape would be to stop their workor building up of such heresies.

Vs. 23; “searcheth the reins” - nephros;kidneys, i.e. (fig.) the inmost mind.

“and hearts” - kardia; the heart, i.e.thoughts or feelings.

“according to your works” - ergon; to work.

Page 57: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

57

The delivery of consequences is advancedby a killing of her offspring, that the rest ofthe churches would know that the God ofthe church of Thyatira is scrutinizing theinner parts or hidden ones of the mind. Areward will be issued according to works.

Vs. 24; “as have not this doctrine” -didache; instruction.

“and which have not know” - ginosko; toknow, be aware.

“the depths of Satan” - Satanas; accuser.

Not having anything to do with this inparticular, there will be no other charge fornow.

SUMMARY:One of the more important conclusionsdrawn from this passage, is the fact thatGod was calling to repentance those that hadtaught heresies, seducing church leaders todo as well, and them that practiced literalfornication as a form of worship. There arediffering schools of thought concerning theinterpretation of the name Jezebel, as it isused in Revelation 2:20. If the term wasused symbolically of a woman’s conduct orsimply representative of the condition,which the church leaders had fallen into,God was calling them to repentance. Thelist of sins outlined in this passage wasdefiant and indifferent to the Holiness ofGod. However, the fact still remained, Godwas very interested and willing to forgive.

An uncertainty that we are left to deal with,is the “space” these transgressors were givento repent. We cannot establish preciselyhow long God waited for their response.Nonetheless, a deadly consequence had beenread and was ready upon command, to behanded down and executed fully. In thefinal analysis, we come to understand thatone must not exhaust the patience of Godbefore repenting. A consequence isincluded in His timeline of forgiveness forthe transgressor. Avoiding the consequenceis solely achieved through completerepentance.

GALATIANS 6:1-2

“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in afault, ye which are spiritual, restore suchan one in the spirit of meekness;considering thyself, lest thou also betempted. Bear ye one another’s burdens,and so fulfil the law of Christ” (KJV).

INTRODUCTIONIt is generally accepted that Paul visitedthese believers twice before he wrote thisepistle. During his absence people calledJudaizers came from Palestine and insistedthat these Gentile believers could not be trueChristians unless they submitted to Jewishordinance, circumcison, and the law ofMoses. The purpose of the book ofGalatians is to combat these heresiesproduced by the “Judaizers” which inessence made the work of Christ insufficientfor salvation.

EXEGESISVs. 1; “if a man” - anthropos; countenance,mankind.

“be overtaken” - prolambano; to take inadvanced, i.e. to be surprised.

“in a fault” - p a r a p t o m a ; a sideslip(deviation)

“which are spiritual restore” - katartizo; tocomplete thoroughly, i.e. to repair.

“in the spirit of meekness” - pneuma; acurrent of air, i.e. breath.

“considering thyself” - skopeo; to take aim.

“lest thou also be tempted” - peirazo; to test.

A person surprised could easily deviate andnecessitate repairing from damagesincurred. This process requires it becompleted through meekness leading to life.Consider that person as if it were you.Perhaps you too will find yourself in thattest.

Page 59: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

59

Vs. 2; “Bear ye one another’s burdens” -bear is in the present imperative meaning acommand to be carried out in the future andinvolves continuous or repeated action.

“and so fulfill” - anaplero; to complete.

“the law of Christ” - nomos; a principle.

The process of restoration requirescontinuous attention in order to make itcomplete.

SUMMARYThe basis for the proper application of thistext is found in fulfilling the law of Christ.The law of Christ does not refer to the rulesor fundamentals of our relationship withChrist but rather to the nature of God inChrist. It is in God’s nature to forgive andrestore, “that none should perish.”

“All this is from God, whoreconciled us to himself throughChrist and gave us the ministry ofreconciliation: that God was

reconciling the world to himself inChrist, not counting men’s sinsagainst them. And he has committedto us the message of reconciliation.”2 Cor. 5:18 - 19

Paul uses this statement “the law of Christ”in Romans 8:2 as one that frees us from sin.James 1:25 also makes reference to the lawof Christ in the same manner. In Galatians,the law of Christ is further explained as onethat would cause us to forebear. Paul isusing “law of Christ” according to the needsof the believers.

In the case of the Galatians, the faultdescribed is a deviation from ourrelationship with Christ. In Galatians 5:16,Paul makes the transition from refutingtraditional Jewish influences to presentingthe issues pertaining to the lust of the flesh.Some of the possible faults of “a man” inchapter 6,

Page 60: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

60

verses 1 and 2 can be alluded to from thelist provided by the author in chapter 5 as“the works of the flesh.”

In such a case that “a man” should be foundin a fault, Paul’s intent is to repair therelationship by restoring the spiritualcondition; this does not imply nor does itrefer to reinstating an individual to aposition of leadership.

Paul counsels those doing the restoring topursue restoration through a temperedattitude with the focus that perhaps at somepoint they too might be tested by similartemptations.

The person seeking to be reconciled needsto be dealt with patiently. Paul calls forbearing that person indefinitely as long ashe remains in the process of being

completely restored. This demands that theperson seeking reconciliation reciprocate theattitude of patience and perseverance.

I JOHN 1: 5 –10

“This then is the message which we haveheard of him, and declare unto you, thatGod is light, and in him is no darkness atall. If we say that we have fellowship withhim, and walk in darkness, we lie, and donot the truth: But if we walk in the light,as he is in the light, we have fellowshipone with another, and the blood of JesusChrist his Son cleanseth us from all sin. Ifwe say that we have no sin, we deceiveourselves, and the truth is not in us. If weconfess our sins, he is faithful and just to

forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us fromall unrighteousness. If we say that we havenot sinned, we make him a liar, and hisword is not in us.” 1 John 1:5-10

INTRODUCTION:1 John has been called the “last apostolicmessage to the whole world.” When it waswritten, possibly as a circular letter to thechurches of Asia, the freshness of the faithhad begun to wear off. Gnosticism (fromthe Greek word gnosis meaning knowledge)had begun to infiltrate the church. Inaddition, “ascetism” (the practice of strictself-denial) and “antinomianism,” meaning“against law” (an indifference towardpersonal ethics, leading to grossly immoral,licentious behavior) began to invade theearly church and take its toll on newbelievers.

1 John was written with 4 purposes in mind.First, John wrote in order to bring back thejoy that was by now missing from thechurch (1:4); second, to help his readers livevictorious lives rather than defeated lives(2:1); third, John wrote to inform hisreaders of the deceivers among them as wellas to remind them of the truth they neededto embrace. (2:26) And fourth, he wrote toreassure believers of their salvation. (5:13)

EXEGESIS:Vs. 5; “God is light” - phos; make manifest

Page 62: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

62

“in him is no darkness” - skotia; dimness

Light depicts the essence of His character.

Vs. 6; “and walk” - peripateo; to tread atlarge.

“in darkness” - skotia; dimness

“and do not the truth” - aletheia; true

To tread at large is to continue in sin andsuch a one has no truth in him.

Vs. 7; “and the blood of Jesus” - haima;blood, i.e. the atoning blood ofChrist.

“his Son cleanseth us” – katharizo; tocleanse, make clean, purge, purify.

Walking in light is to have continuousfellowship with God.

Vs. 8; “we have no sin” - hamartia;offense.

Man denies he has sin.

Vs. 9; “If we confess our sin” - homologeo;to express agreement,acknowledge.

“he is faithful” - pistos; trustworthy.

“and just” - dikaios; equitable.

“to forgive” - aphiemi; remit.

“to cleanseth” - katharizo; make clean.

Page 63: Comision Restauracion 04 - apps.apostolicassembly.orgapps.apostolicassembly.org/downloads/Comision Restauracion 04.pdf · “Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis;

63

“from all unrighteousness” - adikia;injustice.

The only way to keep a proper relationshipwith God is by confessing sin. Despiteredemption, we are left with a fallen naturethat requires cleansing from all injustice.

Vs. 10; “say that we have not sinned” -hamartono; to miss the mark, to sinfor your faults.

“Have” is an auxiliary verb used in theperfect tense indicative. It represents the act

of sin as occurring in the past but withcontinuing results.

“his word is not in us” - logos; somethingsaid, divine expression, i.e.Jesus Christ.

Believing that the sin nature has nocontinuing effect is to say we did not needremission. Therefore, Jesus is not in us.

I JOHN 2:1-4

“My little children, these things write Iunto you, that ye sin not. And if any mansin, we have an advocate with the Father,Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is thepropitiation for our sins: and not for oursonly, but also for the sins of the wholeworld. And hereby we do know that weknow him, if we keep his commandments.He that saith, I know him, and keepeth nothis commandments, is a liar, and the truthis not in him.” 1 John 2:1-4

EXEGESIS:

Vs. 1; “My little children” - teknion; aninfant, i.e. darlings

“that ye sin not” - hamortono; miss themark, to sin for your faults.

“we have an advocate” - parakletos; anintercessor.

Vs. 2; “he is the propitiation” - hilasmos;atonement

“for our sins” - hamartia; sin, offense.

Continuing from vs. 1. Jesus, theintercessor, has made atonement for all thesins of mankind.

Vs. 3; “if we keep” - tereo; a watch, guard.“his commandments” - entole; authoritativeprescription.

The qualifier of knowing him is based onone watching over his commands. Keepthem as you would a medical prescriptionfor your soul.

Vs. 4; “and the truth is not in him” –aletheia; true.

The grammar in this verse would indicatethat if one would know him presently andnot simultaneously obey his commands,then one would be in deceit.

SUMMARY:The clearest distinction one can make comesfrom the obvious: tall versus short, bigversus small, light versus darkness and liesversus truths. The problem in keeping thedistinction would be in keeping it objective.Once personal biases are mixed into theobvious, it becomes subjective anddependent on what each person thinks.

John is clear about the truth of God. God islight and in him does not exist any shadowsof doubt. If anyone lives in questionablerighteousness before God, then that personis in obvious darkness and is not seen byGod as truthful. The comparison John ismaking is between the truth of God andman’s life. In God’s light man is sinful andin need of Him.

pecado no perdonado: Mt 12:31; Heb10:26; 1 Jn. 5:16–17

IX.

1 Juan 5:16-17 16.

χ α ρ ι ζ ο µ α ι (carivzomai, 5483),otorgar un favor de formaincondicional. Se utiliza del acto delperdón, sea divino (Ef 4:32; Col 2:13;3:13);

. κ α τ α ρ τ ι ζ ο ( k a t a r t i v z w , 2675),remendar, equipar completamente.

¡No!
