Roadmap
1. Why focus on health?
2. The Design
3. Individual Interventions
Why Health?
Health is Wealth
Why Health?
The environments we live in can have a tremendous effect on our health
Health is NOT just the absence of disease
Recognize that built environment plays important role in facilitating healthy behaviors
NEXT: Main health concerns in refugee camps
Health Concerns in Refugee CampsHydration:
UNHCR estimates that more than half of the refugee camps in the world are unable to provide the recommended daily water minimum of 20 liters of water per person per day
Important for the water to be readily accessible, and the taps should be centrally located
Sanitation:
Camps that provided sanitation facilities had cholera rates of 1.6 cases per 1,000 people, while camps that had no such facilities had cholera rates that were four times greater
Mental Well-Being
Because of the cumulative stressors that they have experienced, refugee children are also at a high risk of developing emotional and behavioral problems

Wealth stems from Health
Healthy people engage in economically healthy activities
