INTRODUCCIÓN
Los cristales fonónicos fueron propuestos para extender al sonido y a las ondas elásticas
los nuevos efectos encontrados para la luz en los cristales fotónicos.
A saber:
Cristales Fotónicos: medios periódicos que soportan una estructura de bandas de energía
para las ondas electromagnéticas.
Los efectos de difracción dan lugar a bandas prohibidas (photonic band gaps).
Consecuencias Nueva física y aplicaciones novedosas en la industria optoelectrónica,
tales como filtros, guías y cavidades resonantes.

Cylindrical holes in
Epoxy, hexagonal array
(Hypersonic Regime)
Longitudinal and transverse waves transmitted through a
superlattice of 7 cells. A longitudinal wave is incident from
Si. For angles of incidence 40º and 60º we found
transmission peaks of transverse waves higher than the
correspoding transmittance without the superlattice sample
(at the single interface Si-Epoxy,), the dashed red line.
