Tecnológico de Monterrey
PROCESS BENEFITS• Almost all students start from the beginning
(ex: French 1). They have 85h of face to face courses and they use TELL ME MORE 1h/week during 4 semesters.
• They must study with TELL ME MORE during a certain amount of hours per partial evaluation. They all study the TELL ME MORE general language standard courses.
• Teachers use the tracking portal to monitor
their students’ progress. Tutor Tools is used only for the weakest students.
• The work done on TELL ME MORE is integrated as homework activities (20% of the grade) in the 3 partials + final evaluations. The grade depends on the number of hours spend on TELL ME MORE and on the percentage of correct score.
“Most of students have improved their listening
comprehension and oral expression skills, as
well as their grammar and vocabulary
knowledge.”
“Students generally like the permanent access
to TELL ME MORE. Some of them use it
during the week-end. The oral activities are
particularly appreciated.”
CONTEXT
• It’s the biggest private university in Mexico (35 campuses). It offers High School and College programs.• Students can study 4 semesters of French, German or Italian and have access to the language lab 1h/week (where they use TELL ME MORE).
Sylvain Le Coz Paillard
Director of Language Department

Virginia Tech
PROCESS BENEFITS
• The initial program wasn’t mandatory, but today TELL ME MORE is strategically integrated into programs of Virginia Tech.
• 20h/semester are assigned to students. They start with the assessment test, then they will work on learning paths in the Guided Mode.
• Instructors monitor students’ progress and can assign additional learning paths and exercises to target specific skills.
• Both students and instructors are experiencing high acceptance and satisfaction rates: 95% of the initial users were satisfied.
Dr. Judith L. Shrum, Professor:
“With TELL ME MORE:
 instructors are able to strategically use their in-class time to focus on specific skills while enabling students the ability to practice a variety of skills outside of class;
 there is more exposure to the language and culture;
 and it provides a variety of different learning experiences such as video based activities and interactive conversational speaking
exercises.”
CONTEXT
• It’s an innovative research university that host 30 000 full-time students.• The university was challenged to meet the needs of a diverse language learning student population with 8 key languages to support.• Students expressed high needs for Spanish, French and German to develop skills for career purposes.
