INTRODUCCION
La presente guía didáctica tiene como objetivo acompañar al estudiante de modalidad a
distancia con el uso del texto de inglés TOUCHSTONE. Cada nivel cuenta con 6 unidades.
Se desarrollará tres unidades por parcial.
Componentes de cada unidad:
1. Objetivos (Learning outcomes)
Cada unidad cuenta con sus objetivos específicos, mismos que orientan al estudiante
en la confirmación de los procesos de aprendizaje.
2. Explicaciones y Ejercicios gramaticales
Diferentes explicaciones gramaticales son ampliadas por cada unidad del texto.
Posteriormente, se presentan ejercicios gramaticales con el afán de reforzar los temas
estudiados previamente.
3. Lista de vocabulario y ejercicios de práctica
Una lista de palabras, frases y expresiones por unidad es presentada. Luego, se podrá
desarrollar ejercicios de aplicación de este vocabulario contextualizado en diferentes
áreas de contenido.
4. Lectura y ejercicio de comprensión lectora
Cada unidad cuenta con una lectura referente al tema o a los puntos gramaticales de la
unidad. Con esta lectura se pretende que el estudiante amplíe su léxico y desarrolle
técnicas de lectura a través de un ejercicio de comprensión.
5. Link de audio o video y ejercicio de comprensión auditiva
Cada unidad cuenta con un link de audio o video tomado de internet. Al momento de
realizar este ejercicio se debe contar con conexión de internet para poder escucharlo las
veces que sean necesarias. De esta manera, se podrá desarrollar técnicas de
compresión auditiva a través del ejercicio presentado.
6. Prácticas extras de gramática
Al final de la guía se cuenta con ejercicios de práctica extra, mismos que pueden ser
utilizados como autoevaluación de lo estudiado en cada unidad.
7. Anexos
Finalmente, la sección de anexos brinda las respuestas de todos los ejercicios
presentados tanto en la guía como en el texto Touchstone. Así tenemos:

En la presente unidad analizaremos la conjugación del verbo to be con los pronombres I/We/You
I (Yo) We (Nosotros) You (Usted/Tú) You (Ustedes)
El verbo 'to be' significa "ser" o "estar" y depende del sentido de la oración para determinar de
cual se trata.
Así por ejemplo:
1. I am Ecuadorian. (Soy ecuatoriano)
I am in Ecuador. (Estoy en Ecuador)
2. We are friendly. (Nosotros somos amigables.)
We are at home. (Nosotros estamos en casa.)
3. You are intelligent. (Tú eres inteligente.)
You are in Room B. (Tú estás en el aula B.)

El verbo to be tiene diferentes usos y nos sirve para:
1. Identificar una persona u objeto: I am an engineer. (Soy un ingeniero) It is a car. (Es un carro)
2. Describir una persona o cosa: We are handsome. (Somos simpáticos) It is cold. (Es frío)
3. Indicar una ubicación u origen: We are in Colombia. (Estamos en Colombia.) You are from Peru. (Tú eres de Perú.)
4. Expresar la edad: I am 28 years old. (Tengo 28 años.) We are 10 years old. (Tenemos 10 años.)
5. Expresar sensaciones: Are you hungry? (¿Tienes hambre?) I am thirsty. (Tengo sed.)

Singular and plural nouns
Existen dos clases de sustantivos: contables y no contables. Los sustantivos contables son
aquellos de los que se puede hablar en singular y plural mientras que los no contables tienen
únicamente su forma singular.
Al igual que español los sustantivos pueden ser singulares o plurales. Singular solo uno o
plural dos o más elementos.
Ejemplos:
A cup (una taza) Two cups (dos tazas)
Las reglas para formar los sustantivos plurales son las siguientes:

1. Se añade –s a la mayoría de los sustantivos. Ejemplos: cup cups book books 2. Se añade - es a los sustantivos que terminan en s, z, x, sh, o y ch. Ejemplos: class classes dish dishes church churches box boxes 3. Se reemplaza la y por la i y se aumenta -es a los sustantivos que terminan en –y precedidos por una consonante. Un sustantivo irregular es aquel que se escribe igual o diferente en inglés. Ejemplos: man - men

Algunos sustantivos son siempre plurales. Ejemplos: jeans - scissors - glasses - sunglasses

La palabra where nos sirve para preguntar el lugar o posición de una persona o cosa y
significa dónde.
Ejemplos:

Para poder responder el lugar en el que se encuentra determinado objeto o personas,
revisaremos algunas preposiciones de lugar.Las preposiciones de lugar sirven para mostrar
ubicación o posición de algo en relación a otro objeto. En la presente unidad se revisarán las
siguientes preposiciones de lugar:

Possessive ’s
Se utiliza ‘s (el apóstrofo + s) para indicar posesión que tiene una persona o un animal sobre
algún objeto. A continuación se detalla los diferentes usos del posesivo ‘s.
Observe que en inglés primero se coloca el sustantivo o el nombre de la persona o animal
seguido por la apóstrofo ‘s
Añadir ‘s a los nombres.
Ejemplo:
Adam’s notebook is new.
(El cuaderno de Adam es
Nuevo.)
Añadir ‘s a los sustantivos
singulares.

OTROS CASOS
En caso de referirnos a dos personas el apóstrofo va únicamente después de la segunda
persona.
Ejemplo: John and Carol’s shoes are new. (Los zapatos de John y Carol son nuevos.)
Si deseamos indicar posesión para un objeto se utiliza la estructura "of" (del, de la).
Ejemplo: The door of the house is brown. (La puerta de la casa es café.)

Las partículas a - an en español
significan un o una y sirve para hablar
de un solo objeto no determinado. Se
utiliza con sustantivos singulares.
Ejemplo:
I have a pencil. (Yo tengo un lápiz.)
a: Se utiliza antes de un sustantivo que
empiece con una consonante.
Ejemplos:
a book (un lápiz) a table (una mesa)
an: Se utiliza delante de sustantivos que
empiecen con vocales (sonidos
vocálicos), o de una h que no se
pronuncie.
Ejemplos:
an apple (una manzana)
an hour (una hora) (en este caso la h
no tiene sonido)
Este artículo se utiliza para hablar de una
persona(s), animal(es) o cosa(s)
específica(s). Se utiliza con sustantivos
singulares o plurales. Significa el, la, los,
las dependiendo del contexto.
Ejemplo:
I have a dog. The dog is very big. (Yo
tengo un perro. El perro es muy grande.)
Se utiliza para hablar de cosas únicas.
Ejemplo: The moon is bright. (La luna es
brillante.) (sólo hay una luna)
También lo utilizamos a la hora de
nombrar un determinada instrumento
musical por ejemplo: the piano, the guitar
o the flute.
