All photographs are by 1Lt.  James Kalemis unless other- wise noted. More photos at www.kalemis.com/cap/awards06/ Camaraderie, Espirit De Corps, and loyalty to the unit are developed and maintained in several ways. This year' s MCCS awards banquet util- ized a very old means of stimulating pride in the unit and high morale called a Dinning-Out. The Dining-In and Dining-Out represent the more formal aspect of Air Force social life. The Dining-In is a formal dinner for military mem- bers only. The Dining-Out, on the other hand, is a relatively new custom that includes spouses and guests. Otherwise it is similar to the Dining-In. Formal mi litary dinners ar e a tradition in all branches of the armed ser- vices. In the Air Force and Navy, it is the Dining-In; in the Army, the Regimental Dinner; in the Marine Corps and Coast Guard, it is Mess Night. The origin of the Dining-In is not clear. Formal dinners are rooted in antiquity. The Dining-In is so old that its beginnings have almost been lost in the s hadows of antiquity. Wherever and whenever the tradition began, it made for an exciting and en- tertaining event to end 2006 and provided a point of levity for the more seri- ous occasion of handing out awar ds. Just ask Captain "Poot eet". Mr. Vice was none other than Mr. Major, he kept me in stitches every time he checked for credentials. I am not sure that he was not meant to be a stand-up comedian, but I am glad that he finds the time to entertain the members of MCCS. I served as Madam President, reluctantly really, but in the end I enjoyed the process. Wasn't it terrific how, old dogs, like Mr. Mangano, can learn new tricks? You had to be there to appreciate the enter- tainment! I am sorry for those of you who missed the evening's event: Great Food, Great Friends, Great Members, a nd deserving awardees. I can't wait for next year. Vigilance Rules.
