• Reduce time, budget and obsolescence associated with physical prototypes

• Ensure conformance with safety, health, ergonomics and workplace standards and guidelines

• Ensure product designs are optimized for the target audience within the overall global market

• Communicate and share complex human-product interaction issues using a strong, and clearly communicable, visual simulation solution

• Track the impact of design changes against the physical characteristics of end users, thereby ensuring a “human-centric” approach to design

KEY BENEFITS OF CREO MANIKIN

MANIKIN LITE

5

What does Manikin Lite provide?

• Scalable, affordable, human modeling solution for the everyday designer

• User may load, place, edit placement and manipulate a Manikin in the scene

What are the limitations?

• One default Manikin model, limited tools for manipulation (2D drag and apply posture only)

NOTE: Purchased Manikin Extension adds the capabilities to check reach envelopes, vision cones, first person vision window & utilize an entire library of Manikins and Purchased Manikin Analysis Extension adds multiple types of Ergonomics Analysis

NOTE: Support of this lite extension is available with Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 M060 and later

Who Needs it? Customers that need to analyze human interaction and demonstrate compliance with safety, health and workplace standards

Business Value– Standards compliance

– Reduce time-to-market

– Reduce product development cost

Process Improvement:– Conformance with safety, health and workplace standards

Technology/Capability: – Validate designs against workplace standards and guidelines for:

• Material Handling (RULA), Pushing/Pulling (Snook), Lifting/Lowering (Snook), Carrying (Snook) and Lifting/Lowering (NIOSH)

– Define and save manikin postures associated with the analysis • Reuse and apply saved positions for target populations

– Identify and validate acceptable limits for the desired population• Reuse and repeat the analysis for different populations and criteria

• Key Capabilities– Validate designs against guidelines

• Material Handling (RULA)• Pushing/Pulling (Snook)• Lifting/Lowering (Snook)• Carrying (Snook)• Lifting/Lowering (NIOSH)

– Repeatable analyses for different target populations

CREO MANIKIN ANALYSIS EXTENSION

18

CREO MANIKIN ANALYSIS: RULA

The Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) equation provides an analysis of the manikin's upper limbs based on variables such as:

• Weight, Distance and Frequency

• Automatically evaluate manikin’s posture– Height of hands

• User defined task variables– Side, support, across mid-line,

static work, etc

• Provides detailed analysis results– Global score 1to 7– Includes Gravity

• Saved Analysis– Saved as a feature

19

CREO MANIKIN ANALYSIS: CARRYING ANALYSIS

Based on the SNOOK tables, this function analyzes the manikin carrying an object, based on variables such as:

– Weight, Distance, Frequency and Duration

• Automatically evaluate manikin’s posture– Height of hands

• Provides detailed analysis results– Based on Design Goals– %’age task accommodation for males– %’age task accommodation for females

• Saved Analysis– Saved as a feature

20

CREO MANIKIN ANALYSIS: LIFTING/LOWERING ANALYSIS

Provides 2 ergonomics analyses of the manikin lifting/lowering an object:• NIOSH 91 and SNOOK

• Require two postures (saved as snapshots)– Initial task posture– Final task posture

• User inputs task parameters– Weight, Frequency, Quality of grasp, etc

• Automatically evaluates manikin’s posture– Height of hands, asymmetry, distance

• Provides detailed analysis results– NIOSH: Recommended Weight Limits, Lifting Index– SNOOK: Design Goal, Accommodation %’ages

21

CREO MANIKIN ANALYSIS: LIFTING/LOWERING ANALYSIS

Using data derived from the SNOOK equations, this analysis provides an analysis of the manikin pushing and pulling an object, based on variables such as:

• Load, distance, frequency and duration

• Automatically evaluates manikin’s posture– Height of hands

• Provides detailed results– Design goals– %’age accommodation for males– %’age accommodation for females– Includes data for both initial and sustained

effort

• Saved Analysis– Saved as a feature
