Semana de: Diciembre 18-Week of: December 18 th Maestra del mes/Featured Teacher: Este mes le daremos la despedida a la maestra de ingles como segundo idioma Laura Underhile. Ella se jubilara de nuestro distrito escolar después de 15 años de servicio. Durante su larga carrera en nuestro distrito la maestra Underhile dio clases de inglés como segundo idioma, literatura y ciencias sociales. Cuando le preguntamos cuáles fueron sus mejores experiencias, Ella respondió: He disfrutado mucho a mis alumnos y el poder desarrollar conexiones con ellos. El enseñar a los estudiantes del sexto a octavo grado, a sido especialmente gratificante ya que he podido presenciar el crecimiento de los estudiantes a lo largo de sus años de secundaria. Estoy muy orgullosa de mis alumnos previos de octavo grado, los actuales ya que han madurado mucho y son más responsables. Es realmente genial ver muchos ex alumnos que ahora tienen familias y carreras exitosas. Durante mis primeros años en RMS, habían muchos inmigrantes nuevos y el personal del departamento de ELL era más pequeño. Me alegra enormemente ver que el Departamento de ELL a crecido y agregado clases y un jefe de departamento bilingüe. Aunque extrañaré a todos mis colegas de trabajo y alumnos, estoy encantada de ver los cambios y los mejoramientos realizados. Que hará una vez que se jubile? Después de mi jubilación disfrutaré más tiempo con mi familia y mis nietos. Mi esposo y yo tomaremos unas cuantas excursiones más a menudo y tal vez unas vacaciones más largas en tiempo de invierno. Extrañare a los alumnos y el personal de RMS, pero tengo una abundancia de buenos recuerdos para toda la vida. This month we are saying farewell to one of our ESL teachers, Laura Undderhile. She is retiring from our school district after 15 years of service. During her long carrer in our district Mrs. Underhile taught ESL classes, literature and social studies. When we asked her what her about her most memorable moments, her response was: I have enjoyed the students and building connections with them mostly. Many are hardworking, kind, and motivated to learn. Teaching students from the 6th - 8th grade, it is especially rewarding to witness the students' growth throughout their middle school years. I am quite proud of my past and current 8th grade students who have become very responsible and mature. Seeing many former students who now have families and successful careers is really great.In my first years here, there were many new immigrants and the ELL staff was much smaller than today. I am greatly encouraged to see the ELL department grow and add bilingual classes and a department head. Although I will miss everyone, I am delighted to see the changes and improvements being made. What will you do after retirement? I will be enjoying much more time with my family and grandchildren. My husband and I will be taking a few more day trips and maybe a longer vacation during the winter. I will miss the students and staff at RMS, but have a abundance of good memories to cherish for a lifetime. Alumnos de segundo grado en todo el distrito están aprendiendo sobre cómo era la vida antes y ahora. Como parte de los estudios, fuimos al museo. Como dice el dicho,"ver para creer". En aquellos días, el edificio del museo fue usado como una prisión. Algunos estudiantes decidieron acompañar con "El preso" para una foto. District wide, all of 2nd graders are learning about before and now. As part of our studies, we went to the local museum. As the saying goes, seeing is believing. Back in the day, the museum building used to be a prison. Some students decided to accompany "The Inmate" for a picture.
En el segundo grado, estamos usando tarjetas educativas para mejor aprender a escribir los números en inglés. In second grade, we are using online flash cards to better learn how to spell our numbers in English.

Pre-K News/Noticias de Preescolar
Mrs. Galvan Pre-K Noviembre fue muy divertido en Pre-K. Leímos y aprendimos sobre el origen del Día de Acción de Gracias. Los niños crearon varios artículos indígenas como collares, cantínforas para el agua y bolsos para cargar cosas. Los alumnos las llevaron puestas el día de nuestra celebración que fue una comida muy rica para todas las familias. Todo fue proveído por la escuela y los papás y algunos platillos cocinados por nosotros. November was a fun month in Pre-K. We read and learned about the origin of Thanksgiving. The kids made several items used by Native Americans such as necklaces, water canteens and purses. The students got to wear these items the day of our Thanksgiving Feast for all the families. The food was provided by the school and parents and the staff cooked some of the entries.
