Language Focus

FUNCTION LEXIS STRUCTURE PRONUNCIATION

Jobs:Doctor, teacher, nurse, pilot, actress, actor, fireman, mechanic, singers.

Pronouns: they/we/you/I/he/she/it.

She isn´t a doctor/she is a teacher.

He isn´t a student/She is a nurse.

They are actors/ they aren´t nurses.

The difference in the pronunciation between /is/ and /isn´t/.

NEW Speaking about an interview and answering questions about it.

New Jobs:Builder, farmer, singers, taxi driver, bus driver.

Are they nurses? No, they aren´t/ yes, they are.

Is he a farmer?Yes, he is/no, he isn´t.

The correct pronunciation of the new jobs, paying special attention to the sounds /b/ in builder and /d/ in taxi driver.

Teaching Approach: Communicative Approach

Integration of Skills: The use of a magazine article helps to the integration of reading and speaking skills and it fosters interaction among students and with the teacher

Pedagogical use of ICT in class: visual aids and interactive games will be used to support the presentation and the exposure of students to the new topic.

Materials: worksheets with exercises for each student, board, marker and flashcards related to the topic. Projector. Computer.

Seating arrangement: depending on the type of activity, the Ss will be sitting in pairs in order to feel comfortable or in groups of 4 or 5 students facilitating interaction and discussions.

Page 3: Lesson plan 2

Cooperative work: working in groups may help the students better interact and communicate with one another in order to exchange ideas and opinions.

Possible problems and possible solutions: the most important problem could be timing. It is very difficult to calculate the time for each activity since each group is different and works at a different pace. Perhaps, if there are students who finish early, the teacher can give them any other dynamic activity or game up to the moment the rest could finish their tasks.

Assessment: The assessment will imply self-assessment in connection with learner training and learner autonomy which means that the students may be encouraged to monitor and check their own progress.
