Dear Parishioners, We have reason to celebrate! Saint Patrick Parish will soon hit 20 years of Adoration before the Blessed Sac-rament! On October 7, 1998 we began spending quality time with Our Lord. He invited us to spend one hour with Him and we answered the call. 350 people came each week to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Most stayed one hour, many just dropped in for a brief visit......20 years of visits! What a triumph! After all these years, our numbers have dwindled. Many of our adorers have passed on into eternal Adoration but still we have members of our community who have stayed the course and continued their devo-tion month after month, year after year. How faithful, how humble the soul who knows where to go to receive guid-ance in times of trouble, comfort in pain, solace in sorrow. Perhaps they offered a prayer of thanksgiving for a petition answered. Our Canons and our Adoration committee have planned a celebration for this achievement . A special Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated at 4:30 pm on Saturday, October 6th. Prior to the event we will have the opportunity to be part of this occasion by participating in a 40 hour devotion in front of the Blessed Sacrament in the main church. A reception will follow after the Mass of Thanksgiving. Yours in Jesus and Mary, Susan Reddick Adoration Committee

We Pray for our Sick.....

The church unites in praying for those who are critically ill. Our prayers can be a very effective channel for the healing power of Christ. Some people have a crisis or illness. Others are chronically ill. Both types of situations need the care and concern of the entire Body of Christ.

At the request of concerned family members, names of the critically ill will be placed on our prayer list and will remain on the sick list for four (4) weeks. After that time they will be removed from the list. If a member of the family or the sick person himself or herself wishes to remain on the list, they have only to call or e-mail us and we will be happy to oblige.

It is truly right and just always and everywhere to pray for a change in attitudes and law con-cerning abortion. In God’s eyes every preborn life is a precious gift. Every child who is born is also precious. We don’t know why some children are born into families with limited resources, but we do know that, as a Christian community, we are called to help those in need. During the school year we have received food contributions from the school, Girl Scout Troop 14 and Friends Academy and we appreciate their help as well as food placed in our collection baskets. Since it is now summer vacation time, we lose some of our resources, but children and fami-lies are still in need. So now is the time to perform those good works by bringing in even one item of food to Church with you each week.

Thanks to those who have been helping – it’s never too late to start a new habit! Thank you.

Congratulations!
